Very close to the Sierra Mar and a natural park with easy access from the A92N motorway and the airports of Murcia, Almeria, Granada and Alicante. The area of Los Velez is in the South-East corner of Spain is an area of outstanding natural beauty retaining its traditions and customs. An ideal location for those wishing to experience the real Spain and having easy access to beaches and main tourist areas. Very nice one bedroom self catering cottage with one air conditioned bedroom and double bed and electric radiator, sleeping 2 persons maximum. Private terrace area with table and chairs. There is a kitchen/diner with fridge, oven, toaster and microwave. Lounge with satellite Television and log burning stove for the winter, The bathroom has a shower.

Cortijo San Blas is situated just 10 - 12 minutes from Velez Rubio and in an ideal location for discovering historic places of Andalucia and Murcia with the opportunity of enjoying such activities as walking, bird-watching, painting, mountain biking, horse riding, golf, quad biking, paragliding, sight seeing, diving, and skiing during the winter months in Sierra Nevada. Originally a fortified medieval hill-town, Velez Rubio was abandoned in the 15th Century and its population was moved eastwards, closer to fields and sources of water. Outstanding among its many churches and convent buildings is the splendid baroque church of La Encarnacion, the province’s biggest church. Built in the 18th Century its magnificent features include square towers, topped by octagonal belfries, on either side of a lavishly decorated doorway. The town offers cafes, bars and restaurants. On Saturdays, since 1804, a market spreads over the four main streets of the town.

What a fantastic place,the owners Wayne and David (and mom Cath) couldn't be more welcoming or accomodating.Nothing was too much trouble.We had a superb peaceful relaxing two weeks holiday in 5 star plus accomodation.We certainly will be going back again as soon as we can, and have no hesitation in recommending it.On the other hand it is one of those finds you would like to keep to yourself if you know what i mean!

Initially we hesitated on booking because of it being so remote away from the beach etc.,but on going to a busy beach for one day in August in sweltering heat,we knew we had made the right choice.As in the mountains,it was so peaceful and the scenery was spectacularly breathtaking.We took lots of photographs which just don't do it justice. It was also about 10 degrees cooler and you were able to sunbathe with a gentle breeze now and then which made it perfect along with the swimming pool to jump into to cool down.

I have just read David and Zoe's (dzyork) review.They were a lovely couple who were there whilst we were there.They are spot on with their review, i can only reiterate it .

Perfect rural idyll

We stayed at San Blas for three weeks and it was bliss. There are seven rental units all brand new and finished to an extremely high standard, immaculately clean, lovely swimming pool with sunbeds and a shady veranda, poolside bar. The units have aircon in the bedrooms, shower room, well fitted kitchens and sitting area, and each has its own outside seating area. there is a communal barbecue, and washer/drier facilities. The owners live on site and are the perfect hosts, friendly, efficent, unfailingly helpful but never intrusive. On arrival they provide a map of the nearest town marked with the lcoations of bars, restaurants, supermarkets, cashpoints, pharmacy, medical centre and even the papershop! The property is set in a wonderful location in the mountains of southern Spain. Nearest villages are approximately 15 minutes drive away, so if its peace and quiet you want, this is the place for you! Granada is 2 hours drive, Almeria coast about 1 hour. The views from the property and on the way to it are stunning - we spent hours just looking at the surrounding hills and almond and olive groves. Definitely a place for couples seeking complete relaxation. The other guests were lovely, we had some splendid evenings, chatting over drinks at the bar. The pictures and information on the website give an excellent and highly accurate view of the complex
