Characterful and charming self-catering cottage. Sleeps 4 plus infant (cot and high chair provided). One pet welcome. This well equipped, tastefully furnished cottage combines modern comforts and traditional character. Features include wood burning stove, exposed beams and natural stone walls with bespoke oak kitchen. The cottage has full central heating, dishwasher, washer/drier, fridge/freezer etc. Modern bathroom with corner bath and shower. Sunny garden with furniture and barbecue. Linen, towels, gas and electricity included. Non smoking cottage.

Petroc Cottage is located in the heritage town of Lostwithiel set in the richly wooded Fowey Valley. Lostwithiel boasts many award winning resturants,pubs and tea rooms within strolling distance of the cottage. Known as Cornwall's antique capital, Lostwithiel, retains its unique, historical appeal. The poet Sir John Betjamin said, Lostwithiel had 'heritage in every stone'. Lostwithiel is in the heart of Du Maurier country, close to the beautiful sheltered sandy beaches of Cornwall's South coast and wonderful coast path. If lying on a beach is not your thing, there are plenty of activities to do such as horse riding, golfing, surfing and all types of water sports, walking and cycling.Due to its mild climate, Cornwall is famous for its wonderful gardens; nearby are the Eden project, Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lanhydrock.

Charming country cottage in beautiful cornwall

Petroc cottage was a great place to stay, it is a cosy warm and inviting house, well decorated with all mod cons, yet still seems to retain the old world charm, with its log burning fire and exposed stonework. It was very clean and tidy upon arrival and we were welcomed in style with a plate of cornish cream teas awaiting us, as well as fresh flowers.

Lostwithiel is a great location for exploring the surrounding areas, and these have much to offer including some great countryside and coastal paths, as well as seaside towns and lovely gardens.

Within lostwithiel you will find yourself very well catered for as we found some lovely pubs and restaurants with good food to a high standard.

Overall we had a great time in the cottage and really enjoyed our stay there. I would recommend it to all as a home away from home in a great location.

We really enjoyed our week at Petroc Cottage. The cottage is very well equipped and has everything that you could need to make it a real home from home. The location is great with good pubs nearby that serve delicious meals. We had a fabulous meal at 'The River Brasserie', I wish it were closer as I'd be a regular!
If you don't want to use your car you don't have to as there are lovely walks on your doorstep, however it would be a shame to miss all that Cornwall has to offer.

A really nice and well equipped cottage. We rent cottages 2-3 times a year and this has been the best stocked by way of tea, coffee, milk, toilet rolls, washing up liquid etc all things that i now carry with me just in case, were already provided here. There were even fresh flowers on the table and a cornish cream tea to welcome us.

The facilities for young children too were great with a high chair, stair gate, cot, lots of books, videos, games etc.

The cottage caretakers provided a great service too and helped us with our queries, and also repaired a light fitting during our stay.

Locally Lostwithiel is both a great base for touring Cornwall and also has lots to offer itself with good pubs, nice restaurants, a great coffee shop - Muffins, a small supermarket and has verything you could need. The river is an ideal spot for a picnic and some pond dipping, and there are playareas for the children. The town has lots of history as you walk around and there are many antique shops to explore.

The train station has trains direct to Penzance, Truro and St Austell and with one change to St Ives and Newquay.
