Beach: The Algarve has one of the most stable climates in the world, this makes it an ideal year-round holiday destination. Take a 10 minute easy stroll to the uncrowded, seemingly endless sea front and unspoilt award winning blue flag beach situated in a dune protected area. Whilst on the beach, you can take a leisurely stroll to Monte Gordo's beach (5 miles/8km) East and Cabanas de Tavira's beach (5 miles/8km) West. The Eastern Algarve is a well kept secret on the Algarve surfing scene, they are attracted by its quietness and warm sea temperatures. The Eastern Algarve has the warmest sea temperatures in the Algarve, average local sea temperature: 17-20C.

Golf: There are 6 premier golf courses all within a 15 minute drive of Manta Rota: Quinta da Ria (2 miles/3km), Quinta da Cima (3 miles/4km), Monte Rei the newly constructed and highly revered Jack Nicklaus' 'Signature Course' (4 miles/6km), the Sir Henry Cotton designed Benamor (5 miles/8km), Castro Marim (7 miles/11.2km), Quinta do Vale, designed by Severiano Ballesteros (10 miles/16km) which opened in October 2007.

Neighbouring Towns & Villages: Vila Nova de Cacela is the next town inland from Manta Rota situated about 800 metres from the villa and has pubilc access to the Internet and the town has its own market on the 3rd Sunday of every month The pretty cobbled medieval village of Castro Marim on the banks of the Guadiana River is overlooked by two hilltop castles dating back to the 13th century. The buildings in the town are predominantly white, with flashes of ochre and luminous blue. The sandstone walls above Castro Marim enclose the first headquarters of the Military order of Christ, heirs to the Templars in Portugal. The Castro Marim golf course runs through undulating hills and calls for careful play with strategically places water hazards, fairway terrain and well places bunkers.

We had a brilliant time here. As family of four with two young children (9 month old and 2yrs 8 month old) this was a great place.
Safe and very child friendly. It was warm when we were there, so the air con was a life saver as was the pool. Eating outside on the terrace for every single meal was bliss.
Spoilt for room, so much so we may take the grandparents with us next time.
The area is very nice, quiet and not too touristy, but has all that is needed with a supermarket, butchers and a few restaurants/bars within walking distance.
About as relaxing a holiday as is possible with 2 little ones.

The sun was shining. Our son slept very well. The vinho verde was cold. The BBQ hot. That's how it should be. And it was. See you next time!

(Try the market in Vila Nova The Cacela every morning for vegetables, bread and fish.)

Highly recommended Holiday home in Manta Rota

We recently stayed in this gorgeous villa – 2 couples and 2 small children (3 yrs and 8 months). We were wowed by this house and all said we would happily move it to the UK to live in! Failing that we would have happily taken all the fixtures and fittings with us! It is a stunning property, excellent living space and really comfortable. It was ideal with the children as they had the space to play and the pool so near by to enjoy. It was really a lovely property and I couldn’t recommend the villa anymore, it had everything you would need for a great family holiday, or a shared placed for just couples!

Perfect location.....

Having used this website a number of times now to book our holidays I would be happy to say that this is the best property we have stayed in. We traveled as a group of 2 families with 3 young children under 3 and found the house totally spotless when we arrived. My only concern would be the lack of stairgate, either fixed or portable, this however was overcome with some clever positioning of dining room chairs. The kitchen had everything you needed and the outdoor BBQ was used a number of times, we ate all our meals outside as the property benefited from evening sunshine. All contact with Graham was efficient and friendly, all emails were replied to within 24 hours and in most instances, sooner.
We used the property as a base to travel on a number of daytrips, the most enjoyable being Tavira and Seville (over an hour away but well worth it.) We also went to the beach in Manta Rota which is beautiful. Manta Rota has a lot of little restaurants which were great, the best of which was a modern building on the way to the beach, really reasonable and a fish lovers dream!! (have forgotten the name.)
Overall, the best thing about this location was that it had the sun and the beaches for an Easter break without having the Costa del Sol crowd, atmosphere or over development, we were really pleasantly surprised by Portugal.
