The Moosberghaus offers two separate and entirely new equipped apartments. The house can also be rented as one property for extended families and groups (family reunions) up to 8 persons. Cyclists, hikers and disabled persons (groups) are also welcome. The peculiarity about the little town of Rosenthal (smallest independent town of the state of Hessia which obtained town rights in the year of 1327), in the middle of the Burgwald forest, is its wonderful location. Situated in the hugest forest region of Hessia and away from all of the busy roads, you can enjoy the silence. As far as the eye can see: wide valleys with clear creeks and mountains (412m). Friendly citizens knew how to preserve the rural character of the town. Historic buildings, streets out of paving stone and alleys typical of that region tell from the ‘good old times’. As one of the special examples the beautiful town hall situated in the middle of the market place from 1654 with its frameworks which are typical.

The house, which is partly a half-timbered one, has a modern central heating and got last renovated in 2006 (bathroom, kitchen, etc.). On the ground floor you can find a spacious living room with adjoining dining room (space for 10 persons) and a roofed terrace. In the new kitchen you can find: dishwasher, microwave, stove, fridge, freezer compartment and several other electric devices. The apartment has cable TV (35 TV programmes). A TV set with DVD device and stereo system are at your disposal. We do not demand higher prices during holiday time, we grant reduction for children and the extras are included in our prices! Your well-being is our aim.

Notes to the rental rates

• In detail: Children up to 2 years for free, children up to 10 years pay only half of the price per day! Minimum period for rent (desirable but no condition): 3 days, during the peak season 7 days, renting if possible from Friday to Friday. Special conditions for groups and longer stays can be granted, single overnight stays (cyclists, hiker, etc.) possible, 20 € per person per night, breakfast 4 € extra. Please note: bed linen included in price! Final cleaning costs 30 €.
  
• If desired, the following special services are possible for extra charge: change of bed linen weekly, cleaning of the apartment after every 5 or 7 days, babysitting/child care, transfer from the train station, full fridge at your arrival (please mail or fax us a list in time, before your arrival), rent of bicycles, guided hiking tours. As special: wine tasting of wines coming from the ‘Pfalz’ (wine region in the West of Germany)

The Burgwald forest, ‚Burgwaldtour Christenberg’:

The Burgwald forest 77 square miles, 400 km hiking trails, natural forest, nature reserve ‘Franzosenwiesen’ (engl.: French meadows), bird sanctuary, fairy woods of the Brothers Grimm! The German hiking trail of the year 2004 with quality certificate of the German Hiking Institute is to be found in the Burgwald forest. Unique experiences, terrific nature, landscape and excellent marking of the paths make this forest worth hiking in. Especially recommendable is the tour ‘Burgwaldtour Christenberg’, which leads you through the deep Burgwald forest. Smooth paths, steep sandstone valleys and stretched valleys covered with dark moss characterize the former hunting ground of the Hessian earls. The route, which got honoured as ‘Hiking trail 2004’, leads the hiker from ‘Münchhausen’ to the excavation place ‘Christenberg’ (10 hiking kilometres away from Rosenthal, through the forest). Your day trip 22 km away from Rosenthal: Venice is known for its thousand bridges, Marburg for its stairs and alleys. Even Jacob Grimm once said: ‘I believe there are more stairs in the streets than there are in the houses.’ Crooked, with many angles and steep, that is up-town Marburg. Here you can still feel and see the Middle Ages. Boris Pasternak also felt that way: ‘If this here was only a town!
