This 3 bedroom house which spans over 3 floors is situated in Piazza. Madonna Suffragio with magnificent views of both a beautiful 400 year old church and the Med sea, is walking distance from the heart of Acireale, a 17 C baroque town bursting with beautiful historical buildings. 'Casa Aranci', built lately and recently refurbished, retains some of its original features and integrates within the square. The first floor is dedicated entirely to an en suite bedroom which also has a single sofa bed for a third guest. The second floor comprises of a double room and a single room both sharing a 'wrap around' style balcony and a shower room. The highlight of 'Casa Aranci' has to be the third floor which is the kitchen and dinning area leading out to a garden terrace which benefits from magnificent views of the sea. All rooms have air conditioning which can also switch to heat in the few cold winter nights between Nov and April. Catania, Taormina Mt Etna within one hour drive.

We suggest you drive along the coast coming from the airport instead of taking the A18 Catania-Messina; the drive will take you through picturesque areas such as Ognina, Cannizzaro, Acicastello with it's 11th century Norman Castle, Acitrezza with its famous fish restaurants and where Homer in his 'Odyssey' describes the place where Ulisses encountered the Ciclops: Capomulini, a small fishing town with its trattorias along the promenade and finally Acireale following the Statale 114; all along you should have spectacular views of mount Etna.Before turning left at the traffic lights into Acireale Centro look below for S. M.a la Scala town. Turn round the Villa Belvedere into Corso Italia and left on Corso Savoia will take you to Piazza Duomo, go across the arches under the Bishop's Palace and turn left into via Galatea, 20 metres to the right turn into via Marzulli and immediatly to the right again take via Aranci to the Piazza del Suffragio where the house is located at number 40

Notes: Because of the layout of Casa Aranci spanning over 3 floors, the house is not suitable for anyone with a walking disability. Please note that because of the balcony on the 2 nd floor and the terrace on the third floor children should be accompanied whilst outside. Part of the character in the piazza of St Maria al Suffraggio is the church of the same name, it makes for a wonderful backdrop from the terrace as seen in the photos, please also note that part of its charm is its bells !! just in case you forget to bring your watch don't worry you will be reminded of the time every 15 mins from 0600 to 2200 each day. Sundays is a particularly lively time for the church and its bells.

Excursions to Mt Etna: Etna volcano, the largest Volcano in Europe, towering above Catania, Sicily's second largest city, has one of the world's longest documented records of historical volcanism, dating back to 1500 BC. Historical lava flows of basaltic composition cover much of the surface of this massive volcano. The Volcano, truncated by several small calderas, was constructed during the late Pleistocene and Holocene over an older shield volcano. If you are a volcanoes amateur you can organise a trip to the top or take advantage of somebody, with high educational skill in geology and volcanology, that can lead you for some Etna excursions . We can organise for geologists and accredited guides to lead you trough the excursion of a lifetime.

Ski: There are two distinct ski areas on Etna. The southern one ends in Nicolosi. It is slightly higher and offers more vertical than the northern resort of Linguaglossa. Resorts close to Acireale include: Mount Etna Linguaglossa (26 km). The ski resort of Etna Nord has direct access to 2 individual pistes, served by 5 ski lifts. The ski resort itself is above 1500m, so skiing or boarding back to the resort is usually possible. With skiing above 2000 metres snow cover is generally reliable.

The discription is accurate regarding the location, layout and facilities.
The house is well situated and from each room you have a nice look on the sea.
It's easy to get in town. There are nice restaurants and shops.
The owners of the appartement are very kind and they are always ready to help.
The appartement is very central situated to visit attractions and you can do a lot of activities.
We visited the Etna, Siracusa, Taormina and we enjoyed the beach.
We recommend this property to a friend.
We had a nice time.

Comfort in charming Sicilian town

We were a party of 4 adults and one lively 4 year old and Casa Aranci suited our requirements perfectly. The rooms are bright and spacious and the top floor living area with terrace is delightful. Eamon and Mario (and Paola) were most helpful with all sorts of information including some excellent restaurant recommendations. It's interesting driving down the narrow streets to the house, but well worth the effort! We hope to return before too long.

A perfect holiday residence

This was avery relaxing week really enoyed the roof garden the views were superb. Villa is very well equipped with all you need and the air conditioning was excellent keeping bedrooms nice and cool. We did not hire a car but if you want to go further a field I would recommend it. The only down side was the taxi from the airport he did not have a clue where he was going and drove us round and round we even tually got out in the main square and he charged us 110 euros for a wild goose chase. We would advise Mario to give code for sat nav or inform guests of a local taxi firm that would pick up from airport, maybe put a small map of the location. Overall we would not hestitate to visit this villa again and hope to in the near future.

i enjoyed my visit to the artistic city of Acireale.every morning i walked down to s.maria della scala for a refreshing swim , had breakfast on the terrace overlooking the mediterranean sea , went to the local market to buy the tastiest produce i ever had ( fish, vegetables , fruit ..all outstanding ) . this spotless and tastefully decorated B&B is ideally located , with trendy Catania , glamourous Taormina and awesome Mount Etna all nearby . We had a marvellous time seeing all those places , but on the terrace of casa aranci we felt on top of the world !

Perfect Sicilian Getaway

Casa Aranci is in tip top condition, immaculately clean, tastefully furnished and equipped with everything you would need. The outside terrace, with beautiful views of the church and the sea beyond – is the perfect place both for eating breakfast brought fresh from the town's wonderful food market and relaxing at the end of the day over drinks watching the sunset. We enjoyed the villa as much as the surrounding area and loved returning in the evening with delicious food purchases to be enjoyed in the peace and tranquility this wonderful residence has to offer. We will definitely return.
