Honeymooning in Villefranche-sur-Mer

We spent two lovely weeks in this apartment. Once we contacted Shelley, the owner, she helped us with the details and plenty of helpful suggestions and she arranged an English-speaking taxidriver from Nice Airport to Villefranche-sur-Mer.
The apartment, although petite, is plenty big enough for two people. There is everything that you have in your own home that you take for granted. There are folding chairs and sun shades for use on the beach, a washing machine, horse for drying clothes, and lots of cleverly consealed items that mean the room looks bigger than it is. Clever use of mirrors make the room seem bigger and delightful original art make every wall interesting, although yours eyes always turn to the view out of the enormous window to the the bay.
The kitchen is well equipped, There is a micro-wave combined oven, which we managed to conjure up lots of lovely meals from the local produce without any difficullty.
The apartment is very clean, the maid came at the end of each week while we were there, changing bedsheets, replacing towels, vacumning, etc.
The apartment is above a busy restaurant, but you are two floors up and we were not disturbed by this.
You are a stones throw from the beach and the centre of the old town is a few minutes away.
Behind the apartment there are steps that lead to the railway station from where you can reach Monaco or Nice in 15 mins in clean air conditioned carriages. The trains are quiet. We were surprised by how close they were but as they are all electric and the tracks are well maintained so we barely knew they were there :)
The window, with its electric blind, is a large sliding window with a fantastic view of the ocean and the bay. You can watch the arrival of the cruise ships and the myriad of little boats and yachts with the binoculars provided.
Shelley provides useful information sheets about the apartment, recommended shops, destinations and walks to discover the area.
There are two main food shops in Villefranche, the Petit-Casino,just 5 minutes walk into the Old Town, and the Spar further up, 10-15 minutes walk from the apartmant.
On the promenade there is a family run, little buffet, called Petit Port. They sell very delicious Paninis, coffees and ice creams. Lydie, the owner, always said Bonjour when we passed by.
The public transport fees are quite cheap, a bus journey from Nice to Villefranche is €1/person.
We would like to go back one day, and we already recommended to our friends.
