Photos and Description of this Kokkino Chorio holiday villa Perfect family get-away, child-friendly, 4km from Blue Flag sandy beach

On the ground floor, this new villa (from 2005) has an open-plan dining area, kitchen and living room with a fire place. There are double doors both from the kitchen and the living room onto the 100 square metre sea-facing patio and the 45 square metre swimming pool (depth 1.20 – 1.50 metres with a separate children's pool area of 0.80 depth). The outside area has an outdoor kitchen with a sink, kitchen countertop and a gas grill – in addition to a sofa and marble table under a pergola giving the necessary shade during the heat of the mid-day. On the ground floor is also a double bed room with a separate balcony and a bath-room with a bath tub and a washing machine. On the first floor are two bedrooms, double bed and separate balcony, and double bunk bed and two single beds. The house comfortably sleeps eight adults. Nearest Airport: Chania at 23 Kilometres
Nearest Ferry: Almerida at 14 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 4.0 Kilometres
The house is situated some 220 mtrs above sea level with magnificent views over Souda Bay and the Mediterranean - at the edge of the beautiful Apokoronas peninsula. The scenic White Mountains (Lefka Ori) as high as 2,500 metres are in view. Nearby (400 m) is the traditional village of Kokkino Horio (The Red Village) with a taverna with great local foods. The village also has two local kafenions and a small local market where you can buy the necessary food for cooking. 4,5 km away are the sandy beaches of Almerida with more than 20 restaurants, bars and shops. The beach here is very safe for children as it shelves very gently . There are no large hotel resorts, but many small family operated hotels and a quiet environment - which however can provide all the modern facilities. The charming village of Plaka is a pleasant 30 minutes walk away. Chania is 22km to the west, and Rethymnon 22km to the east.

  • On the ground floor is also a double bed room with a separate balcony and a bath-room with a bath tub and a washing machine. On the first floor are two bedrooms. One with a double bed and separate balcony and the other with a double bunk bed and two single beds. The house comfortably sleeps eight adults. In addition, the living room sofa also serves as a single bed. We also have a baby cot which can be moved to any of the bed rooms. The pool has the special fenced-off water area for children. Children must be supervised at all times around the pool area. The owner holds no responsibility for the use of the pool. The villa has satellite television and a telephone for local calls and reception of international calls. There are children’s toys available for borrowing - buckets, spade, scuba-diving, rackets/ball, floating matresses etc.

Great house at a wonderful spot

Dear future guests - we were happy enough to be quests at Kokkino Horio in the summer of 2007. If you like the original Greece - not too many tourists. Splendid restaurant(s) nearby and the best view from your terrace you've ever seen - this is the right spot for you. The owner of the house is reliable, so is the caretaker. He is ever so friendly and helpful.

We will come back one day..

VILLA GLAD - a dream!

We did enjoy 2 lovely weeks at VILLA GLAD! Unbelievable sights from everywhere in the house in all directions! Coloured flowers next to the pool and in the garden. Sheep passing twice a day with their waving shepherd. Olive trees next to the house. Difficult to decide where to sit, relax and watch the surrounding.
We studied all the photos of VILLA GLAD before we went there. Would we be dissapointed??? No - not at all, because reality was even nicer than the photos!!! Comfortable rooms, tasteful furniture and dishes, waiting for us in all its property. No reason for not enjoying all the time!
There were so many destinations for interesting sightseeing - tours, but it also was really hard to leave our lovely "home" with all the possibilities to relax, swim, have a barbecue, walk, lie in the sun, watch nature, dream.....!

We intensively hope, that we will come back one time!!!

just perfect

Even the name of Villa Glad is perfect for this wonderful property. In Norwegian “GLAD” means glad – happy – pleased. We, a family with to kids spent 14 days in these holiday home together with our friends and there to children. After less then one hour Villa Glad became “our home” There was nothing missing at all, both inside the villa and outside in the pool area. There was no communication problems with the housekeeper either, the service from there side was perfect too.
