Lovely villa

We were very pleased with the villa - it was large and very clean with a lovely large terrace with sea views. There are three double bedrooms, one on the ground floor with a bathroom next to it, two upstairs sharing a bathroom and two twins on the lower floor sharing a bathroom, but here you did have to walk from one bedroom into the other to use the bathroom. OK for kids but not so good for adults!
The area is quite nice, but not as pretty as further west where the coastline is more beautiful.
Our only concern was the fact that we were kept awake at night by dogs barking. The owner left her dog (he was very nice) at the property but came back daily to feed it, but friends his joined him and they had a barking competition at night with the dogs next door. For us this was a problem as it did disturb our sleep every night we were there - we found it best to sample as much of the local wine as possible at night to help us sleep!
The ruins at Agrigento were impressive, but those at Selinunte were better. The beach at Bovo Marina was lovely. For shopping try the new shopping centre La Vigne at Agrigento - a huge Carrefour and lots of other nice shops. The mountain town of Caltebellotta was one of our favourite places, with a lovely cafe overlooking the view, and Enna was another mountain town with lovely buildings and views - make sure you climb to top the the castle! Siculiana has a wonderful church and a piazza with great views, a bar with very friendly staff and good cocktails, and a good pizza restaurant (Muzika?). We tried La Scogliera in Siculiana Marina which had lovely sea views and delicious food, but was a little pricey.
October may be 24-26C and feel hot to us, but it was their winter and many places were closed, which was a shame. At Sciacca the thermal swimming pools were closed and lots of the restaurants in the various places we visited were also closed for the season. The up side is that you then eat in the locals eating places rather than those for tourists. The people everywhere were very friendly and helpful. But beware the driving!! It is fast and mad and whatever you do, give way first becuase you can bet your life that they won't!
