Family vacation in Dubai
Review Submitted: February 17, 2009
Date of Stay: February 2009
We spent week 7/2009 in Palm Villa. We were 6 adults and 3 small children. Villa served our purpose very well and evey couple were able to have their own bedrooms and bathrooms. Spacious villa served the purpose for us better than hotel and we were able to spend quality time together. The freedom to decide wheather to eat out or cook at the villa was extremely good with small children.
The Villa was well equipped and clean. We had some small issues during our stay (e.g microwave brakage) but whenever something reported to the owner, they took care of things with local people, so we got quick fixes to the problems.
Palm Jumeirah is under heavy construction and this was the biggest negative factor. The construction work on the other side of the "bay" was much closer than it seemed in the picture provided. The construction work sometimes ment dust and lots of noice and the sea water in front of the house got dirty. We swam in the sea but it was not very tempting. Also one issue is still basic services lacking from the Palm Jumeirah. Supermarket and restaurant services are poor and car or taxi is needed in oreder to handle these well. Dubai Marina (10 min by car) served the closest places. Also nice restaurants could be found on Madinat Mall/Souk app. 10 min by car.
All in all, a nice holiday, Dubai offers nice weather and places to visit but explore the possibilities before your visit. And reserve some money with you !

Owner's Response: Dear Norppa
Thank you for your review and giving us such a high rating.
We are really pleased that you and your family enjoyed staying in the Villa, that you found our service to you prompt and had a good holiday.
We do agree with you that a car is the best way of getting around Dubai.
The Palm itself is largely residental at the moment but the main supermarkets are an easy drive - the closest being 'Spinneys' at the Dubai Marina (immediately left off the Palm) or 'Carreforre' in The Mall of the Emirates (right onto the Sheik Zayed Road). Both easily within 10mins.
There are some also some great places to visit close by not least Altantis, Wild Wadi and the Dubai Mirage. We recommend reference to the 'The Dubai Explorer' a copy of which has been left in the Villa and which can now be acessed on the internet. It has a wealth of information about Dubai and what to see and do.
There is construction on the Palm Jumeriah and some of this is across the Frond's waters from the Villa. This is why the Villa is offered at a reduced rate. Never the less we do want all our guests to be aware of the outlook and we provide our own photos to try and help. While there is some noise we have never had problems with dust from the site as it is to far away from the Villa and the main construction work is now nearing completion. As you reported to us there were some dust storms during your stay and the any dust is most likey to have been due to these.
The sea - it does change from day to day: we have seen it clear some days and murky on others!
Many thanks again for staying with us.
