Photos and Description of this Gstaad - Lauenen holiday apartment Beautifully decorated, ideal for summer and winter vacations, 3 to 4 bedrooms

The individual apartments are on the 1st and 2nd (top) floor of the recently built Chalet and can be rented separately or together. They are in possibly the best location in the valley, 10 min from Gstaad centre. The traditional built Chalet is facing south overlooking the beautiful valley with view on the charming village of Lauenen. All rooms have big windows and are bright & sunny. Both apartment were recently decorated to the highest standards, using antiques, Geoge Smith furniture & selected fabrics. All bedrooms have sumptuous superking beds with cosy down filled duvets & pillows, and plenty of wardrobe space. Living & most bedrooms have flatscreen TVs with Satellite & DVD & possibility to receive English SKY. There are large terraces (east/south/west) with tables & chairs. The chalet is surrounded by its own private gardens. There is an additional bedroom per apartment on the lower ground floor, kingsize beds, with their own en-suite shower rooms. Two car spaces per apartment.

The apartment is on the 2nd (top) floor of this recently traditionally built chalet (3 apartments total, one on each floor). By car one enters into the underground car park (2 car spaces) and internal staircase to the apartment. Alternatively there is an entrance to the building from the garden at first floor level. The entrance hall opens towards the living room with fireplace which leads to the openplan kitchen, with breakfast bar. The kitchen is fully furnished and equipped with plenty of limoges china, glasses, cutlery, kitchen tools, espresso machine etc. Both hall and living room open into the separate dining room. The inside is a tasteful mixture of wood panelled and painted walls, which make the apartment very cozy, yet very light. The living has a flat panel TV, with DVD and Swiss and/or English SKY satelitte reception. Hifi with MP3 facility. The third bedroom is on the lower ground floor, with its own en suite bathroom.

The authentic village of Lauenen is located at the end of its own valley, 6 km from the centre of Gstaad. The valley opens wide at that point and offers a stunning far reaching view. The chalet is on the north side of the valley, facing south, hence very sunny and light. The small village has not much changed over time, all chalets without exception are of the traditional wooden built. There are three charming hotel/restaurants and two village shops with bakery. The road stops at the village and there are many walks and hikes in all directions. The well known lake, the Lauenensee, is a memorable 2 hour walk, with a possible stop at the lake in one of two little restaurants. There is public transport into Gstaad all year round and in the winter to the lifts of the region. The drive to Gstaad is 10 minutes where this international destination offers many luxury shops, large choice of restaurants and of course the famous Gstaad Palace Hotel, with its bar, restaurants, spa and night club.

Additional information about rental rates

  • A 25 % deposit is required to confirm the reservation. The full amount is due 60 days before arrival as well as a security deposit of 2000 CHF which will be reimbursed quickly at the end of the stay. All amounts will be refunded if reservation is cancelled and the property can be let again for the same period and same amount. Major credit cards welcome. A final cleaning and laundry charge of 250 CHF for occupancy of up to 6 people will be deducted from the security deposit together with telephone consumption, electricity and any breakages/damages
  • The renter should be fully insured for personal injury, theft etc. The owner refuses all responsibility for recourse that an insurance company may exercise against the owner in the case of an accident. Arrival is after 4pm and departure is before 10 am on change-over day.

public transport: An extensive bus network serves the whole region and all sking areas. The buses leave/return to Lauenen regularly towards Gstaad, where one can connect to the other routes and also to the train network. There are trains to the other skiing areas as well as an hourly train to either Geneva or Zurich, both city centres and airports.

walking and hiking: 11 mountains offer 300 km of walking and hiking trails. Many paths leave from Lauenen in all directions, with various degrees of difficulty. For the adventurous, several mountain huts, high up the mountains, offer refreshments, food or overnight accommodation. During the winter months there are also many winter-hiking trails.

other activities: Three Olympics size pools in the area, two outdoor. Several different tennis courts, in and outdoor, clay and hard surface. Bikes and mountain bikes can be rented easily.

Ski: The 62 lifts of the Gstaad area offer 250 km of slopes. The nearest slopes are 10 minute drive, Schoenried skiing area 15 minutes drive and the 3000 meter high glacier, Glacier 3000, is 20 minutes drive away. The glacier offers skiing from October to May, with guaranteed snow during the main winter months. Lauenen has its own ski lift, 5 minutes walk away, for the beginner or children. Lauenen also has one of the most beautiful Langlauf slope in the country, 8km long through a stunning nature preserve. Off-piste and Heli-skiing is available. Gstaad has an ice skating ring and curling ring.

Golf: The golf club Gstaad-Saanenland is one of the most beautiful 18 hole courses in the country. The course is generally open from mid-May to end of October, subject to weather conditions. The course may be played for non-members with a handicap of 36 validated. Independent golfers e.g. ASGI, VCG, or league Française may play at an increased green fee. The club offers a driving range, pitching green, putting green, pro shop and delicious restaurant

My family and I stayed in this luxury accommodation in January 2009. The apartment was equivalent to a 5 star hotel with thought and attention to every detail. The beds were fantastically comfortable with excellent quality bed linen and bedding. The kitchen was superbly equipped and the wonderful sitting room and log fire were a joy to spend a relaxed evening in. The owners are at hand to advise and assist with any needs you may have and were truly wonderful company. Before leaving we re booked for 2010 and will continue to book for many years to come. The Location of the apartment is truly stunning and the views are quite spectacular. A little piece of heaven.

Little Paradise in Lauenen

We were very lucky to have found this wonderful apartment while searching the internet for a short holiday break. We spotted it on Wednesday late afternoon and on Saturday we arrived in the apartment. Everything was quick and professionally organized on such a short notice. We are frequent business travellers, so pretty spoiled but up till now this has been the only holiday apartment to match a 5-star hotel. The owner has thought of the smallest details and is very kind and helpful. We highly recommend this apartment to everyone who is looking for a place where they can feel “home” in the middle of an impressive nature with the facilities of Gstaad within reach. Unfortunately this time we could only stay for one week but we are planning to return for a longer period of time.

We rented this apartment for two weeks in the summer and enjoyed every moment. The Bernese Oberland is one of the most stunning alpine environments I have seen. Lauenen is the best kept secret. The apartment was just beautiful, great views, very well fitted out, comfortable and sophisticated. The proprietor was very friendly, helpful and responded immediatly to all our emails. I highly recommend this property.

We spent the most beautiful holiday in this great place. Owners were super to deal with, instant replies to any questions during the booking process, and everything was so welcoming on arrival. Apartment itself was very well decorated and far superior in comparison to the usual holiday rental flat. It felt more like a home. Great fireplace.

we spent two weeks in spring in this most charming environment, the area is breathtaking, the apartment was wonderful, fitted with so much attention to detail, all as described, pictures do not do it justice though - it is even more beautiful in reality, owners very accommodating and friendly, highly recommend it.
