This charming villa in Palaja, a village with excellent amenities 5 minutes from the Cite of Carcassonne, sleeps up to 8 people in 4 double bedrooms. 'Au Berg' has stunning views and privacy from its 22 ares of garden with large terrace for outdoor living and a pool of 11.5 x 5 metres. There is a fully equipped kitchen including oven, combi microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and plenty kitchen tools and equipment. A brand new luxury bathroom with corner bath and Italian shower complements the pleasant (and cool) bedrooms. The living space both indoors and outdoors is generous with plenty of room to relax and watch TV or a DVD or simply lie out in the glorious southern sun. Just 15 minutes from Carcassonne airport and with easy access to the A61 auto route, Au Berg can easily be reached. Loads to do for all ages from the Australian Park to the medieval Cite and a host of great wineries and restaurants in easy reach.

5 minutes from The Cite of Carcassonne with wonderful attractions all within a few minutes drive. The Lac de La Cavayere is 5 minutes away where you can swim or sunbathe on the beaches, take a pedalo or, for the energetic, swing in the trees at the O2 Aventure park. Also nearby are the Parc Australien with loads of activities and animals, and the superb Cite des Oiseaux with vultures, parrots and others flying just above your head. Both Caracassonne and the Cite have endless eating opportunities and Palaja is in the heart of some of the major wine regions of Languedoc including Corbieres, Minervois and other smaller appellations. The UNESCO World heritage site of the Canal du Midi is within a few minutes drive and you can explore its many villages and locks. Toulouse, Mediterranean beaches and the Parc African at Sigean are all within an hour's drive. There is a well kept 18 hole golf course five minutes drive from the villa and local shops two minutes walk away.

Local Amenities: The village of Palaja has a well stocked small supermarket, a post office, newsagent (with DVD rental), baker with good bread, a first rate butcher with meat from local farms and a pharmacy. Caracssonne has two large out of town shopping areas with all the supermarkets and specialist large stores you could want. In town, there is a market on Tuesdays and Saturdays at Place Carnot and an excellent covered market selling mostly meat, fish and cheese every day (It is just off Rue de Verdun about half way up - an old stone building). Carcassonne's golf course is well worth a visit - not too challenging but always in excellent condition with first rate greens. Do not be put off by the dauntibg first hole - it is only 130m carry to the top of the hill!. There is a practice facility across the road from the entrance - no charge except for 2 Euro for a bucket of balls. Also a nice chipping and putting area beyond the 18th green.
