Trassilico, originally a roman fort, developed into a truly idyllic village during the middle ages. It lies on a hill, surrounded by chestnut woods in the middle of protected area of the Apuan Hills. The view stretches from the valley of the river Serchio to the Pennine mountains. The small cobblestone roads will take you past a butcher and a restaurant to the recently renovated castle. The square in front of the church often holds merry festivals. A football field invites sport buffs to exciting games and the same applies to the playgrounds for the children. The village is actually heaven for children, since no cars are allowed and playing around is very safe.
