Playa Blanca and beyond:
Playa Blanca is situated in the sunny south of Lanzarote and, while it has all the attractions you could wish for, it has a tranquil and relaxed atmosphere, retaining much of its fishing village character and charm. Shops, cafés and restaurants line the pedestrianised sea front promenade, which overlooks the small, pretty, unspoilt beach. A lovely spot to sit, have a drink and watch the world go by! From Playa Blanca port you can enjoy a short ferry trip to the Island of Fuerteventura. The famous unspoilt beaches of Papagayo can be reached by car, a 5 minute drive, or along a coastal track 20-25 minutes walk. A 20 minute drive takes you to the Timanfaya National Park. You can drive through this unique volcanic landscape or take a coach or camel ride around the volcanic scenery which includes live geysers and boiling pools. Close by is La Geria, the wine region where you can visit the bodegas, discover how vines are cultivated in the volcanic ash and sample some of the produce!
Exploring Lanzarote:
Travelling on you will pass through the beautiful valley of Haria dotted with hundreds of palm trees. The tradition here was to plant a tree in thanks for every new child being born - one tree for a girl and two for a boy. Cuevas de los Verdes are caves formed 3000 years ago during the eruption of the Corono Volcano, they are well worth a visit to admire the beautiful natural rock formations. Nearby are the Los Jameos de Agua water caves formed by volcanic eruptions that have been developed into a popular tourist attraction. As well as being able to admire the beauty of the natural caves, a swimming pool, garden, bar, restaurant and concert hall has also been added to complete the experience. The Cesar Manrique Foundation was the home of Canarian artist Cesar Manrique. It contains an art gallery with some of his own work and also art by other Spanish artists such as Picasso; but the house itself is also interesting and unusual as part of it is built into 5 underground volcanic bubbles.
Experience 'La Isla Bonita':
Lanzarote - 'La Isla Bonita' - the beautiful island, has many places to go and experiences to enjoy. Exhilarating activities: paragliding, motorcycling, windsurfing, scuba diving, karting, horse riding, golf, tennis, off-road trekking, camel riding, submarine diving, sailing, jetskis. Entertainment: live shows, concerts, live music barbecues, fiestas. Chillout: restaurants, walks, quiet parks, swimming, spectacular floral and cactii displays, fine dining, unspoilt scenery... and much more. We fell in love with La Isla Bonita five years ago on a brief weekend trip. We came back again and again on many one-week and two-week holidays and eventually decided to buy a villa to make our home here. We are planning to do just that. But, before we finally settle here permanently, Casa Pamela is yours to enjoy - and the beautiful island awaits. We hope you will enjoy it too!
