Coimbra, the ancient University City, is famous throughout Portugal and rivals Oxford, Florence and Seville. It offers an ideal year round city break destination for lovers of culture, history and architecture. This stunning modern apartment over two floors, is set within a carefully restored 17th century building, and has 3 double bedrooms (one with balcony), two bathrooms, a lounge and a fully fitted kitchen. It offers accommodation for six. Linen and towels are provided. Located within the medieval city centre, next to the Arch of Almedina, the apartment is just a short walk from the historic University buildings, the Cathedrals, art galleries and museums and many other ancient sites of interest. Also on the doorstep is a fascinating warren of shops and a daily market of flowers, fruit and vegetables, wines and cheeses. There are many pavement and riverside cafes, and restaurants catering for all tastes. Coimbra is famous for its vibrant night-life, festivals and open air concerts.

A wonderful weekend break. There is no need to hire a car to enjoy your holiday exploring the historic city centre of Coimbra. The apartment is located right within the medieval city centre, and is actually built on the old town walls. It is less than 500 metres from the mainline station in Coimbra, and very close to the University Coimbra is located on the Silver Coast of Portugal, midway between Lisbon and Porto. Modern road and rail links take you quickly and cheaply to the centre of the City of Coimbra, either from Lisbon or Porto Airport. Trains and coaches (Rede Espressos) are of a high standard, frequent, cheap and direct. The City of Coimbra, known in Portugal as 'The City of Knowledge', is home to the oldest University in Portugal. The medieval atmosphere is reflected in the wealth of historic architecture that survives to this day, and in the student festivals and numerous cafes and restaurants, and also in the vibrant night-life. Coimbra is an ideal location.

Great central location, near the bottom of the hill in Coimbra (very important). Very generous space with three large bedrooms. lovely balcony to let in cooling breaze and take in views of the city.

Would certainly stay here again. If going to Coimbra make sure you visit the fresh food market.
