A choice of 3 tranquil villa apartments with all amenities in this exclusive part of Malta. Quiet and peaceful yet only minutes away from the entertainment hub of Paceville and the more popular St. Julians Bay with its many restaurants and great bars. Properties also enjoys the use of a large swimming pool (41 sq m), sunbeds, deckchairs, hammock for a couple, 3 seater hammock swing, rocking bench, large umbrellas, gazebo seating for 8, barbecue area with its own fridge and kitchen facilities, shower and WC facilities by pool area. The dedicated solar heating system for the pool allows use of the pool from April to October. Access to pool area is via wooden bridge over large cascading koy fish pond. A further gazebo with vine tree is adjacent to a smaller water turtle pond. Very romantic setting in this hilltop area with extensive views of Malta, where the tropical garden and the cascading waters from the fish ponds continue to add to the serenity that the whole place seems to create.

This is the largest of our apartments having two bedrooms sleeping 4 to 5 people. The main bedroom is also equipped with an air conditioning unit. The spare bedroom, lounge area and kitchen/dining all have ceiling fans. The apartment also has two bathrooms (shower, toilet and sink facilities). A desk is also located in the short corridor area. Entrance to this apartment is down the short stairway alongside the koi fish pond, and opposite the vine tree gazebo.

Madliena's pristine location between two valleys provides a perfect opportunity for countryside walks. This hamlet is located on one of the highest points on the island thus helping to 'cool' down the hot summer nights with its gentle breeze off the nearby coastal areas. From here one can see right across the island, all the way from Marsaxlokk, to Mdina, Valletta, and the north of the island. An important feature in Madliena are the Victoria lines where a natural fault runs roughly east to west across the island. It was the British who, by 1900 built a series of forts with intervening walls and gun emplacements along the 12km of the ridge. Because of its vantage point, Madliena was mostly used for military reasons with the most important site being the Madliena Tower. Within close vicinity, one can also find the Meditteraneo Water Park, Malta’s only marine park. This is a popular place with its many water rides, attraction pools and marine part where one can also swim with dolphins.

Additional information about rental rates

  • While water, gas and electricity are included in the price, the main bedroom is provided with both a free standing fan and an air conditioner. The air conditioner however has its own card meter and its electrical consumption is the only utility not included in the price; cards may be purchased directly from us.

    Early Arrivals
    Check-in time is 13:00 hrs, although if apartment has been vacant for at least the previous day, then this would also be available at an earlier time.

    Late Departures
    Although we will normally allow our guests to stay in the apartment right up to their departure time, there may be instances when we will have to ask guests to vacate apartment much earlier (at 10:00 hrs) in order that this can be cleaned in circumstances when we have same day arrivals. Notwithstanding this, guests can still utilize the pool and garden facilities, and will also be provided with a place where to change clothes and have the use of toilet and kitchen facilities.
  • Deposit of 30% of total amount is required to secure booking. Balance to be paid upon arrival in Malta in Euros.
    Rental fee is for 4 persons. While this apartment is advertised as a two bedroom apartment, an additional two extra beds can be fitted in the lounge area for those seeking budget accommodation. Extra bed per night ranges from Euro 3.50 to Euro 7, depending on the season and time of year; baby playpen cot Euro 25 per week.
    A complimentary welcome food pack is provided upon arrival.
    A final cleaning charge of Euro 30 is applicable for every rental period, however guests can request weekly maid service (extra cost - Euro 6 per hour).
  • LONG STAY PROPOSALS
    We are also trying to beat the credit crunch this winter and so are offering long term stays at great discount incentives, where the longer you stay (offer is from 01 November 2009 to 31 March 2010) the higher the percentage discount, as per following indicative chart (actual average monthly rental price for these 5 months is 1222 euros):-
    One month stay entitles you to 20% discount on the actual price (average 975 euros per month).
    Two month stay entitles you to 25% discount on the actual price (average 915 euros per month).
    Three month stay entitles you to 30% discount on the actual price (average 855 euros per month).
    Four month stay entitles you to 35% discount on the actual price (average 795 euros per month).
    Five month stay entitles you to 40% discount on the actual priCe (average 735 euros per month).

Notes: Both the kitchen/dining and lounge areas are each equipped with large ceiling fans. There are various garden fixtures and furniture where one can lounge and rest. The gazebo overlooking the pool has seating for at least 8 people, a rocking bench for 3, a 3 seater hammock swing, a rope hammock for a couple, deckchairs, breakfast area by the pool with seating for at least 5, and other sundry miscellaneous items. The pool area also has its own toilet/shower facilities. The barbeque is also equipped with its own fridge thus one can easily find his cool drinks without having to go the apartment every time. In addition, the barbecue area is also equipped with a kitchenette. The smaller vine tree gazebo, with the turtle pond to the back and adjacent to the fish pond, also provides seating for another 4 persons. Close to this is another wrought iron table with seating for 4.

Our pets: Our garden, although small, is very mature and extremely well kept, providing a tranquil atmosphere, also helped by the sound of the cascading waters in the background. Our own pets, (cats and dogs), other than the koy fish and turtles already mentioned, also have their own separate dens, and are well kept, pampered and cared for.

For those who want more out of their holiday: The pool and garden areas have proven to be a refreshing start or close to any day, particularly if this was a warm or even a blistering one. But Malta has much more to offer than just lazing about in the sun. For this reason we have teamed up with some of the most interesting tour, leisure and event operators on the island, providing day cruises around the Maltese archipelago on a Turkish gullet, an evening’s entertainment extravaganza live show on the 1565 Great Siege of Malta, a visit to the nearby water marine park, an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience swim with the dolphins, or how about exploring some of the most interesting dive sites in the Mediterranean. In collaboration with our friends at Go Dive Malta, we are now also able to offer this experience to practically everyone, from beginners to dive masters. Transport arrangements have also been secured for all these events to pick our guests from our apartments (or very close by).

What we stand for.: We have been called ‘a home away from home’ by some of our past guests, a name which honours us completely, and while we continue to dispense recommendations on what to do and where to go during your stay to help you better discover these culture-packed islands, we will strive to live up to that name and better our product.

Having read all other reviews there is no need for me to go on and on, all that has been previously stated is true. We would not consider renting anywhere else after our first visit to Josanne and Pauls lovely apartments. From getting off the plane and being met by Ray the weeks holiday that we had went as smooth as we could possibly expect.We visisted practically every town on the island in the hire car that Josanne and Paul arranged for us, whilst making a trip to Gozo and Commino too. We also managed a trip to Sicily whilst there so we can recommend Malta for sure. The apartments are all that is stated, the pictures are true to life and the amenities are endless, we only managed one bbq as are extensive travelling meant that some times it had gone dark before we returned, but the lighted Gazebo made a lovely sitting area for that lovely wine that has been mentioned. So if you are looking for an away from the noise and crowds, but close enough to reach the nearest town of Paceville then this is the place for you.If you read this Josanne and Paul we give you 10 out of 10*******

Absolutely beyond all expectations, all exactly as described, a great apartment equipped with attention to detail extremely comfortable and very clean. The magical gardens of the villa had a perfect pool area with shower room,BBQ area even had a kitchen! Beautiful gazebo and Koi fish pool, all so tranquil. Josanne and Paul have thought of everything and are wonderful, warm, helpful people and the dogs are great and friendly. The most relaxing place we have ever stayed, we will return.

Maltese Delight

Having never booked a holiday over the internet we were a little apprehensive but from the start of our many emails to Josanne we were put at ease. Everything went smoothly.


On arrival at the airport we were met by Ray, Josanne's brother. Even though it was after midnight Josanne met us at the apartment and showed us around.

The welcome basked was huge with plenty of goodies. The aparment was clean and bright with all the amenities you require and more. We arranged car hire through Josanne and this arrived on time on our first morning.

This was our sixth visit to Malta so we knew our way around. Shops and restaurants were a five minute drive away. The main road that takes you either north or south of the island was just down the hill.

The grounds to the apartment were excellent. Plenty of sunbeds, seating areas etc. We loved the peace and quiet of where the apartments are situated especially when you have had a busy day sightseeing. We particularly enjoyed the night time when we had been out for a meal in nearby Buggiba or St Julians - it was lovely to come back to the apartment, sit outside with a bottle of wine (we had a lovely bottle of red wine from the local supermarket for 1.5 euros) and enjoy the warm evenings with the breeze blowing.

Josanne has three dogs, two cats, turtles and Koi carp. The dogs although big were very well behaved. They barked when you came to the apartment but soon got used to you. They are kept in their own area and do not wander freely around. The turtles are funny - when you talk to them they look at you as if they understand! We had one that came down the steps to our apartment, knocked on the door and came in the apartment. We thought it hilarious! In fact, it escaped twice.

What can we say about Josanne except she is a wonderful host. She brought us wine, cakes, ice cream and fruit whilst we lazed around the pool. We enjoyed many a chat and laughs - we feel that we have made a friend for life. She was never intrusive but was there if you needed her. Paul was working away but telephoned us on our last day. Nathaniel was a year younger than our son and Alex enjoyed playing volleball with him and his friends.

We are fussy about where we stay and loved the apartments. We would definitely return and would recommend the apartments to people who like to be close to the resorts but like to be away from the noise and hustle. We would recommend car hire.

I really liked Malta. Paul and Jo have a beautiful garden with a hammock, a swimming pool and 2 barbeques with supplies of plates, cups and cutlery. They also have a son. He is called Nathaniel, who is 15 years old. They have 3 pet dogs called Toby, Scoobs and Duke, pet turtles,2 cats called Fitu and Bluffs and some koi carp fish. Sometimes they ask children if they would like to feed them. Paul and Jo were really really nice to me and they played games with us, sometimes we could even take the dogs on a walk with them. Nathaniel likes to play ball so when he was in the pool we could play with him. We even played volley ball with him and Paul. I would love to go back there for my holidays. By Lily.

Can't praise this highly enough!

We stayed in the Yellow apartment from the 21/5-2/6 and can honestly say this was one of the best holiday experiences we have had. We are a family of 4 (10yr old boy, 8yr old girl) & are used to travelling independently, and we couldn't have made a better choice. After searching through a number of properties on the website we spotted the Yellow apartment and knew straight away it was the one for us-the pics and the description seemed just what we were after so we made contact with Jo & Paul & after exchanging a few mails the deal was done. When we arrived they had arranged for us to be collected at the airport (included in the price) & I can highly recommend this. After a 15min journey (with a great local commentary en route from Ray!) we were greeted by Jo & Paul (and dogs & cats!) The apartment was prepared for us complete with a fab welcome basket with bread, cheese, snacks and even a bottle of wine. We were soon lounging by the pool & though Jo & Paul were always around if we needed anything, they were never intrusive and if we did need to ask them anything they couldn't have been more helpful. The gardens are shared with 2 cats and 3 large dogs (as described-they live in a separated section), but don’t be put off by this at all as they befriended our kids immediately and soon the kids were taking them for morning/evening walks with Paul and also helping to feed the fab Koi carp-activities which they absolutely adored. The apartment, pool and grounds were immaculate and well kitted out with all the facilities we could have ever needed-we had a bbq pretty much every night as the weather was great, we had washing/drying facilities and satellite tv should the kids be bored!. The house is at the top of a fairly steep hill which wouldn't be ideal for some (very old/infirm/very young maybe) but there were 2 supermarkets (one of which delivers FOC), a small bar, a small restaurant, a pharmacy and the local bus stop at the bottom of the hill. You could easily use it as either just a base for exploring the island (either using the good bus network like we did or by hiring a car) or for spending 2 weeks soaking up the sun and swimming in the pool. By the end of the holiday we had become firm friends with Jo and Paul (and also their son!)-they played with the kids in the pool and at chess/Scrabble, joined us for bbq's and also drinks in the lovely gardens. We couldn't recommend this highly enough-thanks to our wonderful hosts and we will definitely be back!
