Central London: interior designed vacation house with gardens - sleeps 8
This holiday home is ideal for visitors looking to explore London from a central base. Here you are in Central London, but the residential street is quiet and tucked away from the crowds. Built in the 1830s, the house has been restored to retain its Victorian features but fully modernised to include an architect-designed kitchen, luxury bathroom with steam room and landscaped patio garden. Recently decorated by an interior designer, it offers modern furnishings, original artwork and a library of books, DVDs and videos. Spread over four floors, it has three bedrooms (double bed in each), large bathroom, shower-room and two living rooms, each with an armchair that converts to a single bed. Unusually for central London, it has a communal garden at the back of the house, shared with neighbours but inaccessible and invisible to the public. This is a haven for adults and children alike providing a safe space to play and a peaceful place to relax after a day's sightseeing & shopping.

| Notes: | The fully fitted designer kitchen has a large five ring hob and oven, microwave, large fridge-freezer with ice dispenser and dishwasher. There is plenty of crockery, glassware and kitchen utensils for you to use. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine and a tumble drier. The kitchen leads to a dining area (with table, seats 8) and comfortable living area with sofa and an armchair, which folds into a single bed. Huge double doors fold back to open the space out onto the patio garden area. A wonderful spot for a family meal. The patio garden is paved and beautifully planted, making it a charming place to relax and the gate at the back of the garden leads to a grassy communal garden with slide and climbing frame for children and benches for adults. On the ground floor there is another, larger living area with sofa, TV, dvd and the second armchair that folds out to become a single bed. This leads to the study with its library of books and balcony looking out to the garden. |
Kings Cross-St Pancras Transformation
St Pancras is a lively, bustling area with many restaurants, bars and cafes including the longest champagne bar in Europe (in the Gothic St Pancras International station). You will find a guide to local restaurants and shops in the house. The area has seen a great deal of development in recent years and visitors who remember Kings Cross-St Pancras from days gone by will be surprised at its transformation. Victorian canalside warehouses have been restored to house new apartments, restaurants and bars and crumbling industrial buildings have been swept away to make way for new hi-tech offices, shops, art galleries (including the cutting-edge Gagosian Gallery) and Kings Place, a new concert hall that is home to the London Sinfonietta and offers concerts and cultural events nightly. The British Library is a 5 minute walk away - treasures include Mozart scores, Beatles lyrics, Shakespeare First Folio and Magna Carta (1215).
Getting Here - By Air
It is an easy journey from London Heathrow to the house, as the local tube (subway) station Kings Cross-St Pancras runs directly to the airport with a journey time of 50-60 mins depending on the time of day. From there it's a 3 minute walk to the house. From other London airports (Gatwick, Stansted, Luton or City airports), you can take the train into the centre of London and make a short tube or taxi journey to the house. We will send you full directions when you book.
Getting Here - By Rail
Balfe St is a 5 minute walk from the mainline station, St Pancras International where the Eurostar service from Paris and Brussels now departs. Kings Cross Station is 3 minutes away (trains to Cambridge, York and Edinburgh) and Euston Station is a 10 minute walk away. It is a short bus or tube ride from London Bridge (bus 17 or Northern Line on the tube), Victoria and Waterloo stations. Paddington Station is a tube ride away along the Circle tube line. If you have any questions about the apartment, the local area or London generally, please get in touch by email or phone. Price quoted includes VAT (sales tax), linen, towels, heating & lighting and cleaning. There are no hidden extras to pay.
