Pedra do Ouro has a lovely family hotel with indoor pool, a couple of restaurants and bars and a local convenience store. The beach is supervised in the summer months with life guards, showers and changing facilities and a traditional beach bar. The neighbouring villages of Sao Pedro and Paredes have some excellent restaurants and just 8 km from Pedra do Ouro there are large supermarkets with everything you could ask for. Fruit and vegetables are available in abundance mostly local produce but also tropical fruits mainly from Brazil. There are several wineyards in the region that welcome visitors and there is a Portuguese wine for every taste, from the mild slightly sparkling 'vinho verde' to the more robust reds.
