Come unwind in the glorious Norfolk countryside in your own self contained cottage annexed to an 18th century English manor house. Wretham Cottage offers very comfortable and spacious living accommodation over two storeys for those on a budget as can sleep up to eight people. There are two dining areas to choose from as there is both a separate room inside the cottage as well as an area in the pretty courtyard which is ideal for evening barbecues and alfresco dining. You can always dine in style whatever the weather. There is a lovely garden to the side of the Manor House which can be used by visitors to Wretham Cottage with ample parking to the side. Stabling and paddocks can be rented separately on site for any equestrian lets as can two four hours sessions in a heated outdoor pool. Please email for further details if these are of interest to you. The beautifully maintained Thetford forest is close by and super for walkers, ramblers, mountain bikers and horse lovers alike.

Within walking distance, you will find the local pub which is open all day every day and serves really well presented classic British food. Dogs and children are welcome Market towns Theford and Watton are both close by with good sized supermarkets and shops, banks, take away services and pubs. Norwich and Bury St Edmunds are also both only 40 minutes drive away and they offer superb shopping. In terms of the outdoor life, there is Thetford forest all around so great for cycling and riding plus Center Parcs is easily accessible for a family day out. Several concerts take place in the forest in the Summer months as do several shows. Local attractions are plentiful with the Steam Railway, Banham Zoo, Grimes Graves, Gressinghall Farm, Oxburgh Hall, Sandringham House and Gooderstone Water Gardens to name just a few. A trip over to one of the lovely beaches on the Norfolk coast is another great idea on a sunny day and this will take you only about an hour and 15 minutes to get to.

  • The main bathroom complete with bath, toilet and sink is located upstairs between the two bedrooms. It is light, spacious, carpeted and has a lovely view over the courtyard and onto the stables. Downstairs, the second bathroom's facilities are conveniently split into a separate shower room and wc room. These can be found off a hallway after the kitchen and with a door to close them from the main house if required. The floor is lino throughout this area and the shower has a curtain as opposed to a screen door. Please note that bath and hand towels are provided as is toilet paper for both bathrooms.

  • Upstairs and off the hallway are where you will find both the bedrooms in Wretham Cottage. The main bathroom is located between them. The main bedroom is at the end of the hallway and is particularly spacious. It features a large double bed and good storage facilities. With creamy walls, light curtains and double windows, it offers airy and comfortable accommodation. The second bedroom is a bit smaller and has two single beds. The room has been nicely decorated with some modern touches and once again offers really comfortable sleeping accommodation. Downstairs sleeps a further two comfortably as there is a sofa in the lounge which can be pulled out into a double bed. In addition to this, and if advised well in advance, we are also happy to convert the dining room into a third bedroom instead to accommodate a party of eight people. Please note that bed linen is provided and that there is plenty of wardrobe and storage space in the cottage.

Notes:

The cottage is set up to cater for six people although if we are given enough advance notice, we are more than happy to convert the dining room into a third bedroom so that the house can cater for eight. In this instance, we would also change the outdoor seating area in the courtyard to seat eight and add a couple of chairs to the lounge. Certainly, there is enough space and bathrooms so definitely possible with the right advance notice. Dogs are welcome for a small extra fee so please advise us of the number when booking and there is also stabling and a paddock available for horses so please see the notes on equestrian lets for further details.

As well as the many, many miles to excitingly discover within the forest itself, it also has a unique amphitheatre where regular concerts are held through the summer months by some of the leading performers, both classic and contemporary.
