I stayed at this lovely, well-appointed apt for 11 nights with my husband, 8 yr-old daughter and 73 yr-old mother. It is well located: 5 min walk from the Oeiras train station, 7 min to the S. Amaro beach, and 7 min to the Galerias Alto da Barra shopping mall with supermarket, bakery, cafes and take-away grill. It’s easy and inexpensive to take the train to Lisbon. It costs 15-20 euro to take a taxi to Lisbon from the apt. The apt is light, very clean, and comfortable. A breeze from the ocean blows through keeping the apt cool. The bedroom and living room windows have electric blinds that block out all the street light at night and are fabulous if you are trying to get over jetlag by sleeping a little during the day (as in "The Holiday" w/Kate Winslet). Both bathrooms have adjustable shower heads (for tall people), whirlpool tubs and bidets. A slight drawback is there is no handrail for an elderly person climbing into the tub. I found almost everything I could want in my own kitchen in the apartment or at the nearby supermarket. The furniture and decor are simple yet comfortable and pleasing to the eye.The beds are a little hard, but adequate. The linens were clean, appeared to be new and were high quality 100% cotton. The building has a secure outside door and an elevator with 24 hr security call button. Located on the main floor of the building is a Pharmacy, a fast food pizza-cone shop, an ice cream/snack bar, a tea shop, a sandwich place and a paper/scrapbook store. There is a public playground about 2 blocks away. The building is between a primary and a secondary school which can make it a bit noisy in the morning if you have the windows open. It was not a problem for us, but if you plan to stay out all night and then sleep in, you may need to close the windows. From the S. Amaro beach there is a terrific promenade that leads around the coast to the other beaches of Oeiras. There are plenty of restaurants and snack places along the beach and at the marina. We cooked many of our own meals but also enjoyed the small but friendly Cafe de Gare restaurant near the train station, next to the bakery. Mariza and Alexandre are kind and warm hosts who did everything to make us comfortable. They didn't hover over us, yet they were just a phone call or e-mail away if we had any questions. There was a non-secure wifi signal in the kitchen most of the time (esp when school was in session). I highly recommend this apartment and hope to stay there again soon.
