Historic Manor House dating from 1678.
Llandrinio Hall was built in 1678 during the reign of Charles II near the site of a former hall that can be traced back to 1589. It has a well-documented history as an important Montgomeryshire house that was the centre of a large estate throughout the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. During that time its ownership passed through just three families, but they boasted amongst their numbers the nephew of the Bishop of St Asaph, four high sheriffs of Montgomery and various relatives of the great parliamentarian Sir Robert Peel. The hall is approached via an impressive avenue of lime trees and stands against the backdrop of the Breidden Hills. Many of its original features have been retained, including two oak Carolean (ie dating from the reign of Charles ll) staircases and a wealth of oak timbers and polished oak floors. Having been recently (2007) fully renovated, nowadays the spacious rooms strike a balance between their fine original features and more modern comforts.

Llandrinio Hall is the perfect base for exploring the varied delights of both Shropshire (to the east) and mid-Wales (to the west). It is located directly on the English/Welsh border. Shropshire has been surprising visitors ever since the Romans first settled here. It has some 32 castles and stately homes, the best of which can be found at Ludlow, Stokesay and Attingham Park in Shrewsbury. There’s even a Roman city at Wroxeter. Shropshire also boasts many national horticulture collections and speciality gardens, like Wollerton Old Hall and Stapley Water Gardens. Mid-Wales has just as much to offer visitors, too. The unique Powis Castle near Welshpool is built from red grit stone and was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1952 by the 4th Earl of Powis. It features magnificent gardens complete with rambling Italianate terraces. Beyond Welshpool are the Elan Valley reservoirs, the Centre for Alternative Technology and the Snowdonia National Park.
