There are Championship and kid's courses alike, including the Open venue of Muirfield, Gullane 1, 2 and 3, North Berwick, Whitekirk, Dunbar, Archerfield, Craigielaw to name but a few. The East Lothian coast line covers miles of empty beaches, beautiful sand dunes and exceptional bird life from Aberlady bay bird life sanctuary all the way to Tyne estuary at Dunbar, including Gullane beach (5 minutes from the apartment), Yellowcraigs, North Berwick and the exceptional Tyninghame beach. The Scottish SeaBird Centre is in nearby North Berwick. Also, why not take time to observe Bass Rock, the largest gannet colony in the world. Don't forget the historical sites too - Tantallen Castle, Air Museum at East Fortune with Concorde and of course Edinburgh within 30 minutes.
