The apartment is perfect for undertaking and investigating the many activities and sites nearby such as museums, prehistoric caves, castles, cycling, rock climbing, canoeing, water skiing, cross country and downhill skiing or simply soaking up the unique Ariege atmosphere of a market day or the square of a local town

Set in the foothills of the Pyrenees with stunning landscapes and steeped in history the local area provides a huge variety of opportunities. Perfectly located for daytrips to Andorra and Spain. Besides the wonderful natural landscape which offers climbing, mountaineering, skiing, waterskking, walking and cycling amongst others there is the renowned prehistoric cave of Niaux with its paintings and a range of other caves to vist including Labouiche with its underground river. Many castles and historical monuments dot the landscape including those linked to the Cathar religion such as Montsegur. Attractive local towns such as Foix with its three towered castle and Mirepoix with its historic colonnaded centre are nearby. Charming local markets allow you to soak up the unique atmosphere and sample the distinct local produce such as honey, sausage and cheeses.

Winter activities: In winter the Ariege region transforms itself into a snowy playground. A range of activities exist from the extensive Ax -les- 3 Domaines downhill ski resort to several other smaller centres such as Ascou and Goulier. Plateau de Beille, the biggest cross country skiing centre in the Pyrennes is nearby. You can try snow shoeing and winter mountaineering either on your onw or with a lcoal guide. You can even attend dog sledging school and spend a night in an igloo. After all the winter activities you can realx with a pamper session at one of the hot thermal spa centres in the area.
