A tastefully furnished house with a small garden and terrace situated in Pozzillo, a village on a stretch of coast between Catania and Taormina, the ‘Lemon Riviera', so-called due to an infinite number of lemon groves found at the foot of the volcano Mount Etna. Pozzillo is a quaint fisherman's village with a small port with vividly painted boats. Most of the year Pozzillo is an oasis of peace and tranquillity, while in summer it is a seaside destination for the islanders who enjoy diving off the wooden platforms into the cool Mediterranean waters. There are 2 double rooms (one has air-conditioning), bathroom, a kitchen and a big living room with dining table and double sofa bed. A staircase leads to the garden with a lawn, lemon tree, seating, deckchairs, barbeque and a shaded area in an open wine cellar. The terrace offers a spectacular view of Pozzillo and is ideal for outdoor eating and aperitifs as you watch the sun setting over the village, the lemon groves and the sea below.

Close to the house is Via Cale, a street that connects Pozzillo with Stazzo (1,5 km) and Santa Tecla (4 km). In these fisherman's villages are several restaurants and pebbled beaches. Pozzillo is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily. The quaint fishing village lies halfway between Catania and Taormina and just five kilometres from Acireale (a pretty little city, built on a plateau of lava, that is known for its Baroque churches). Gardini Naxos, a seaside resort with beautiful sandy beaches, is just 20 kilometres from Pozzillo. Beside it we find Taormina 'the pearl of the Mediterranean' and the most exclusive seaside resort in Sicily. Its ancient Greek theatre is world famous for its extraordinary panoramic views. Santa Maria la Scala and Aci Trezza are pleasant seaside villages near Pozzillo. Travelling south, one hour’s drive away lies Syracuse.

Exploring Mount Etna: Pozzillo is also an excellent base from which to explore Mount Etna and its surroundings. The villages of Etna, such as Trecastagni, Zafferana Etnea e Randazzo, are famous for their ancient lava flows, the architecture of their seventeenth century churches, their delicious local produce and the hospitality of the villagers. Situated 700 metres above sea level, they are a favourite retreat of the city dwellers who, in summer are in search of cool, fresh air, while in winter are in search of snow for skiing. Few people are aware that Etna is a popular location for skiers in winter. On some glorious days in winter, it’s even possible to ski the frozen slopes in the morning enjoying a wonderful panoramic view of the Mediterranean, and then, the same afternoon, go and sunbathe on the beaches below!

Casa Eillo liegt in ruhiger Seitenstraße, das Foto entspricht der Aussicht von der Terasse, nur mit Auto zu empfehlen, Haus mit großen Räumen, sauber, Tapeten Charme der 60er, aber waren nur zum Schlafen da, zweckmäßig eingerichtet mit großem Kühlschrank (Getränke im Sommer), Waschmaschine, die Küche ist zweckmäßig eingerichtet, auf dem Balkon lässt es sich morgens für 3 Personen gut frühstücken, der Grill im Garten ist über eine Wendeltreppe zu erreichen, von der Dachterasse sehr schöne Aussicht, leider nur das große Schlafzimmer mit Klimaanlage, freundlich empfangen trotz später Ankunft (22.00 Uhr) und in das Haus eingewiesen, sehr nette und hilfsbereite Nachbarn, Brötchen / Obst kann man morgens kurz nach 8 Uhr vom Händler frisch kaufen, Alimentare gleich um die Ecke
Anfahrt ohne Navi im Dunkeln etwas kompliziert aber mit Karte und Freundlichkeit gelangt man sicher ans Ziel, nach 2 Tagen kennt man die kürzesten Schleichwege von der Hauptstraße nach hause, sehr guter Ausgangspunkt für die Besichtigung der verschiedensten Sehenswürdigkeiten = Catania, Syracus, Etna = Möglichkeit des Aufstiegs bis zum Hauptkrater, Äolische Inseln, es gibt vielfältige Möglichkeiten schafft man nicht alle
im Sommer ein Mittel gegen Mücken nicht vergessen

wir, drei mädels, haben eine tolle woche in diesem geräumigen, urigen ferienhaus verbracht. Vor allem der garten ist der hit! der vermieter war sehr sehr nett und hilfsbereit und die gesamte abwicklung unkompliziert. von hier aus kann man sehr gut die gegend erkunden, braucht aber ein auto und möglichst italienischkenntnisse oder eine super straßenkarte!
wir würden es auf jeden fall weiterempfehlen - v.a. weil es auch ein absolutes schnäppchen ist!
