Photos and Description of this Lespignan holiday house Best of both worlds - quiet, traditional village, 10 minutes from Med beaches

This house has to be seen to be believed. It sleeps up to 7 adults (plus one baby cot), and is in the heart of lovely, traditional Languedoc village, 200m from restaurants and shops, but just 10 minutes from Med beaches. Peaceful but near the action. Just 15 mins from Beziers Airport (new Ryanair route!) and others Ryanair airports Montpellier, Carcassonne, and Perpignan. Minutes from the main autoroute. Before the highly original conversion, local wine-makers deposited their grapes and stored wine here. One of the wine vats ('cuves') has been opened to make a large and spacious bathroom. The courtyard hosts a Mediterranean garden with private swimming pool and BBQ and dining area. The interior is fascinating. On three levels, original beams and stone sinks lie in situe with bleached and stained floorboards, paint-washed walls in Mediterranean colours, further flagstone and terracotta floors with glass-blocks in both walls and ceiling. A true French experience, great for groups!

All amenities are within 200m of the quiet and peaceful house; restaurants and cafés, supermarket and newsagent, and an excellent local wine outlet.

  • Flexible with changeover. During high season, guests should plan to arrive after 4pm and leave no later than 10 am on the departure day. There is more flexibility on this in low season.

Notes: Elderly guests welcome, though stairs are a bit steep, and with railing on one side. Wheelchair accessible, but also not ideal. Many safety features have been added for children (two baby gates, alarm on pool) but care should be used around steep stairwell and pool (no gate, and close to house.)

L'Oasis: An oasis of calm : Self-catering haven of calm. Sleeps seven and baby cot. Amazing house design, three bedrooms plus a mezzanine and wide open-plan lounge, opening up to cozy, romantic private pool and courtyard. In the heart of a lively French village, just 10 mins from white sand beaches. Three Ryanair airports within 1 hour. Great place for family vacation, or for a reunion with friends!

Courtyard and top level: Private, off-road parking totally enclosed and private courtyard with swimming pool, BBQ and seating area with table and chairs. Mediterranean plants. Pool not heated, but is relatively small and like bathwater in summer. Safety alarm installed in pool, so you can breathe a bit easier with the kids running around. Entrance through courtyard. Large open plan living / dining room with painted floorboards and illuminated glass panels, original beams. Mediterranean house plants, dining table and chairs, sofa and armchairs, wood-burning stove, TV with UK satellite. Kitchen with dishwasher, hob, gas stove, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine, Mediterranean tiles and worktops. Wood stove. cosy, airy mezzanine with single bed, desk, TV (great for reclusive teenagers). Baby gate on main stairs and cot.

Lower level, bedrooms and main bathroom: Lower level, where bedrooms are, has separate entrance from exterior (road level). Other (courtyard) entrance is accessible by ramp... courtyard rough gravel but wheelchair accessible. Stairwell a bit steep, but carpeted and with safety rail on one side, and open on the other. Baby gate at top of stairs. From lounge: Steps down to: Fuschia Rhapsody room: Two singles with original stone sink (cot stored here) Ocean Breeze room: Two singles Savannah in Stripes: Double From lounge: Ladder up to Mezzanine with single bed, desk and TV. (Now closed off for safety reason, accessible with key, if wanted.)
