Honey coloured houses, jagged mountains and turquoise sea. This part of Mallorca, well away from the main tourist areas, will appeal to those looking for a little extra, for a quiet and peaceful relaxing holiday.
The main town Soller, of Moorish origin is famous for the orange and olive groves that abound in the area. It has a main square where the locals gather for their morning coffee and ensaimadas and to watch the world go by. There is a morning market where local produce is sold and a train station from which the famous old rolling stock still rattles its way to Palma and back several times a day.
From the station the tram runs through the square, past the market to the Port of Soller, a beautiful, almost circular protected bay. From here you can take a boat along the wild, rugged northern coast to sheltered little bays.
Soller shares its valley with the picturesque villages of Biniaraix and Fornalutx, whilst a little further along the coast is Deia and Valldemossa.
