This Luxury home in Calheta , has everything you need to enjoy a holiday in Madeira. Beautiful views to the sea and country, and in a peaceful location, this is perfect to help you relax and unwind Two large bedrooms , one with a King Size bed , and En suite Bathroom with corner bath and shower, and the other with a double bed, A separate shower room, A well fitted kitchen, Lovely lounge area, and very light and airy throughout the house. Outside there is a BBQ Area ,gardens and sun loungers to soak up the sun and take in the wonderful views of the sea and surrounding countryside, also a large seating area for out door dinning on the terrace. This property has been finished to a high standard and very well looked after throughout.

Founded in 1572, the parish of Arco da Calheta is set between the mountains and got its name from the surrounding hills and its proximity to the parish of Calheta. After the discovery of the island this parish was one of the first to be submitted to huge agricultural explorations, giving origin to extensive lands with noble houses, chapels and cultivated areas. The busiest time of the year is the 7th and the 8th of September when the parish celebrates its annual procession and a fair to honour the patron saint São Braz The Beach Area of Calheta is a short drive down through the rolling countryside, and boasts golden sandy beaches, and a lovely Marina with cafes and restaurants. Funchal is a 25 minute drive to the East of Calheta and is Madeira Capital. Funchal is located in an absolutely unique area. The amphitheatre of Funchal city begins at the harbour and rises almost 1200 m high on gentle slopes.This provides a natural shelter and was what once attracted the first settlers

we would use this property again,but only if there was better heating facilities for the winter months, although the log fire helped and was lovely to sit by on the not so comfey settee and chairs (,they definitely need upgrading). For visitors using this property in the Summer months it is probably as good as you will get. The views are outstanding and the house has all you could wish for..Situated well up in the mountains next to goats,cows and locals.with walks around the nearby villages essential (.providing you are quite fit). Thoroughly recommend for a getaway break.
Owner's Response: Thank you very much for your review, we can supply extra radiators if the weather is to cold for you, this winter has been one of the worst in Madeira for 40 years, and we even had another heavey fall of snow last week (2nd March) over the mountains which could be seen from the sea front in Funchal.
We are pleased you enjoyed your holiday, and the walks and the views and hope to see you back in Madeira again when its a little warmer.

The house is located in a quiet place on the hillside of Arco da Calheta, not far to drive to some of the best Levada walks of Madeira (around Rabacal on the high plateau Paul da Serra) or to the sandy beach of Calheta (10 minutes), which has also a big supermarket (minimarket and bars in the village Arco da Calheta).

We especially loved the huge and partly roofed terrace where you can enjoy the stunning views onto the sea in front and the mountains in the back and listen to the sound of the crickets at night. The house is in a very clean and highly tended condition, best appointed with all things you need for feeling comfortable. Especially the kitchen, the spacious bedroom upstairs with it's huge and comfortable king size bed and the adjoining bathroom are high-class. For us it became like a home during our 2 week's holidays. We missed nothing.

We wish the owner of the house, a very friendly, congenial and uncomplicated man whom we met just one time on our arrival, and his family all the best and hope to come back to this lovely place one time.
