Set in a outstanding location on a hillside in the pretty Cretan village of Megala Horafia, overlooking the bay of Souda and the coast beyond. This modern & spacious apartment two bedroomed apt with kitchen area, well appointed shower room and living area leading to a large private dining balcony with spectacular sea views. Aptera Bay View Apt is set in stone walled lush gardens with freshwater swimming pool making it a peaceful oasis whilst enjoying commanding sea views of the long sweeping curve of Souda Bay. enjoy the view over a glass of something at sunset then wander down the hill to the centre of the village and take advantage of the excellent Taverna Ta Aptera. If you do wish to eat at home, each apartment or studio has a Kitchen with fridge, hobs and small oven. You can also get take out from several tavernas to make a 'meal at home' just that bit easier. The village also has a small shop and so you have everything on hand to fully enjoy this accommodation.

Megala Horafia is a charming Cretan village, the centre of the Megala Horafia is made up of the village hall, two excellent tavernas, mini market, a kafenion and a church. The houses in this village are spread on two hilltop ridges, offering excellent views of Souda Bay and the White Mountains. The eastern side leads to the archaeological site of Aptera with its Roman, Minoan and Turkish remains which you can visit. Megala Horafia is handy for Chania and Souda to the West, for shops, eating, sightseeing, etc. and for Heraklion and Knossos to the East. Central Chania is less than 30 minutes drive from Megala Horafia. Inland are many other villages for exploring and good walking countryside, including Stilos - a shady riverside village, and Malaxa - high on the mountain, perfect for watching sunsets over Chania and the Cretan Sea. Airports: Chania airport is 45 minutes drive away; Heraklion airport is 110 minutes drive away

Here, the magnificent White Mountains bestride the landscape and melted snow from their high slopes waters the fertile coastal plains, where orange, lemon and olive groves flourish and superb fruit and vegetables of every description grow in amazing profusion. This part of Crete also boasts some of the island’s best beaches, especially the coast west of Chania which is one 15 kilometre stretch of sandy beach broken by rocky outcrops and bustling villages with numerous waterside tavernas. Inland and virtually untouched by tourism, rural life continues at the same slow pace as it has for centuries and the visitor who ventures off the beaten track will be suitably rewarded with fabulous scenery and a friendly welcome at every wayside watering hole.

Reviews: Megala Horafia Wow!, what a laid back place. Never unwound so quickly! The view over Souda Bay is magnificent, the pool is perfect, this apartment was ideal, with the kitchen providing everything we needed. Good access to local facilities, shops & tavernas with Hania (wonderful) only 20 minutes in the car, and the rest of the central and western end of Crete easily accessible.
