Beautiful Tuscan villa with private pool and stunning views, Casa Peggi is a truly romantic hideaway with a spiritual feel. The villa boasts 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms [2 on suite] a new kitchen & lounge and cool sitting room in the cantina. There are two external eating areas; one, a vine clad terrace with stunning views to the villages across the valley, the other, a romantic stone hideaway next to an old pizza oven, perfect for watching the fireflies in June. The Villa has central heating and a wood burning fire, so is perfect for winter and autumn breaks when you can enjoy beautiful walks in the woods full of chestnut trees and porcini. The pool is set to the side of the Villa with terra cotta paving and grass banks with steps leading into the shallow end - perfect for children and elderly relatives. The views of the distant mountains are stunning. The Villa is set in 5 acres of woodland and gardens yet is only 1 km from the nearest village and shop; secluded not isolated.

Casa Peggi is set in 5 acres of woodlands and gardens, 1 km from the beautiful small village of Riana with its stone houses that cling to the hillside. Casa Peggi is in the commune of Fosciandora, famous for Porcini. The historic town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is 8 kms away where you can find a fantastic market on Thursdays with cheeses, hams, olive oil and farm produced food. A visit to 'Vecchio Mulino' is a must for food lovers where Andrea presides over the bar and serves fantastic local produce. Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is the gateway to the 'Parc naturale' a huge nature reserve where you can find lakes, skiing, walks, climbing tours of underground caves and great food. Lucca is a half hour drive away and is a hidden jewel in the Tuscan crown where you can hire bikes and cycle around the tree lined walls, climb up ancient towers and marvel at the views or enjoy a glass of wine in the the Roman 'antiteatro', Florence is a 2 hour drive away or just take the train & relax

Winter Breaks: The price for holidays from November until the end of march does not include the gas for central heating this is paid locally at a rate of 75 Euros per week or 15 euros per day for short stays. It does, however, include the cost of logs so please feel free to stoke up the fire and roast some local chestnuts!

We had an amazing week at Casa Peggi for my Dad’s 60th birthday. The house is lovely and the views are unbelievable. I wish we were back there now! There were 8 adults and 2 young children in our group and there was plenty of room for us all to have our own space, along with great areas to get together for meals etc. The owner, Mike, was really helpful and quick to respond to emails and questions. I would really recommend this property.

We stayed at Casa Peggi for Christmas 2008, with two families, including three young ones. We had brilliant sunshine and crisp frosts most days, and the view across the mountains was magical. At this time of year the area is fantastic, experiencing the Italian Christmas, walks in the woods, long lunches in local restaurants and shopping and sightseeing in Lucca. Casa Peggi is a lovely house with large rooms, a cosy kitchen with open wood fire and views to die for. The English owners have been really helpful and know all the best places to go. we will definitely be booking again.
