Coast/Beach:
Nearest beach is Torre del Mar (20 Mins drive) typically Spanish resort with long wide sandy beach and promenade, many bars and restaurants, the coast from here goes right around to Nerja in the east (30 mins) and beyond, past numerous beaches and coves to the Costa Tropical (50 mins). Traveling west along the coast the lively Malaga suburbs of Benalgabon and Rincon de le Victoria offer another wide sandy beach & promenade with bars, restaurants etc
Beyond Malaga the well known resorts of The Costa del Sol are easily reachable for a day out.
Golf and Ski:
There are two golf courses nearby.
Baviaria 25 minutes drive from the villa at Caletta de Velez.
18 hole par 71 course enjoying magnificent views of both sea and mountains.
English speaking: - facilities include golf buggies, practice balls, pitch and putt, driving range, hire of clubs, golf school, club house, restaurant etc.
Anoreta Golf Course 40 mins from villa, close to Rincon de la Victoria 18 hole par 72 course also providing spectacular scenery.
Granada and the Sierra Nevada ski resort is only a 2 hour drive away; you can be skiing in the morning and on the beach at the Costa Tropical in the afternoon; and home for supper too.
Cities and Culture:
As mentioned above, the city of Granada is only a 90 minute drive away and really worth a visit. Apart from The Alhambra Palace which is quite simply breathtaking, the city also boasts a fascinating old Moorish quarter, The Albaicin, with narrow winding streets, tea /coffee shops, typical handicrafts and tapas bars.
Cordoba, & the amazing stunning Mezquita also not to be missed, is a similar distance away in the other direction, whilst Seville, probably the most beautiful & vibrant city in Spain, although a little further, is still do-able in a day. Nearer home Antequerra and the surrounding white villages are all fascinating whilst Malaga town, ignored by many visitors to this part of Spain is a rewarding destination for any day out.
