Roda Golf & Beach Resort is situated just a few minutes from the beaches of the Mar Menor. With over 300 days and an annual average temperature of 21degrees, it is a perfect resort for both golfers and families. The 18 hole, par 72 golf course at Roda was designed by Sam Torrance and Dave Thomas and is the winter home for the European Golf Academy. In addition to Roda, there are over 10 golf course within a close radius. Los Alcazares, formally a small fishing village situated on the Mar Menor on the Costa Calidas coastline, is a 5 minute drive or 25 minute walk from the apartment. There are over 7 kilometres of blue flag beaches with shallow waters that are ideal for children and relaxed bathing. The area is recognized as the healthiest place in Spain and the salt composition of the water is renowned for its healing properties. The Mar Menor is an ideal location for all water sports including wind surfing, sailing, jet skiing, surfing and fishing.

Roda Golf and Beach Resort: The two bedroom apartment 'Solace 'was completed in July 2008 and is situated south facing so that the garden & patio area have sunshine for most of the day. Roda Golf and Beach resort is a property complex geared towards high quality tourism and residence. All the properties are built around the excellent 18 hole par 72 golf course and there are communal pools, children's play areas and gardens around the complex. For your safety and peace of mind there is 24 hour security on the complex with surveillance cameras and regular patrols. A new beach club owned by Roda has recently been opened on La Manga del Mar Menor. Transport is by minibus collecting at Roda and then by ferry to the beach club. Facilities include a private pool area , restaurant, jacuzzi and water sports. A luxury 5 star hotel with spa and shops is planned for 2009. This will be the first business venture outside Great Britain for the De Vere hotel group.

Los Alcazares: The former fishing village situated on the Mar Menor (small sea) is close to the Roda complex. The Mar Menor is a salt water lagoon formed by the Mediterranean sea being cut off by the La Manga land strip. The shallow waters are very safe for bathing and water sports and there is over 7km of blue flag beaches. There are numerous shops, restaurants and bars in the plaza area of Los Alcazares. Restaurants include traditional Spanish, Indian, Japanese and English cuisine - not forgetting the ' Celt ' Irish bar.

Places of Interest in the Murcia region: There are a number of festivals in San Javier close to the Roda complex. These include the International Jazz Festival every August, The Theatrical Festival and The San Blas Pilgrimage. The capital city of Murcia is a modern city with a rich, historical legacy that makes it stand out as a cultural and artistic center. There are numerous squares and terrace bars in which to relax and enjoy the local cuisine. Cartegena has over 3000 years of history and is surrounded by hills and forts . Caravaca de la Cruz is one of the world's five holy cities. 'The cult of the true cross' goes back to the 13th century. The mud baths at San Pedro del Pinatar are popular with locals and tourists

Relaxing at Solace

We spent a relaxing week at Solace at the start of August. The apartment was spacious with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms- great when you have 2 teenage daughters with you!! It was well furnished and the large outside terrace was ideal for dining and sunbathing. The pool was close by and the water temperature was perfect. We had a week of great weather- eg.36 degrees at 6pm! We didn't hire a car- we relied on the local taxi service to get to the main supermarkets and the centre of Los Alcazares. (We found it too far to walk in the heat). If we return next year we would hire a car. We had a lovely holiday at Roda and we hope to return soon.

We spent a week at this apartment in July 2009 with three teenagers. We all had a really relaxing holiday and would thoroughly recommend it. The apartment is tastefully furnished with lots of bed linen, a super kitchen, good utensils and equipment and two bathrooms (most useful with three females!). The ground floor location makes it ideal to relax on the spacious terrace and the pool is just around the corner - literally! All the gardens are immaculately kept.The Welcome pack was great for us as we arrived late and so had tea, coffee, bread etc to keep us going until the next day. We used the two bicycles provided with the apartment to cycle to the supermarket and beach. The TV and DVD player was good for the teenagers when the sun got too hot ! Car hire is useful if you want to go further.
Los Alcazares is five minutes away (by car). We ate in a few restaurants - our favourites being 'El Patio' and The American Diner for good value. Two supermarkets are a few minutes drive from the apartment. We visited the market on the Saturday morning - go early - from 10am to pick up some bargains.
Roda Golf Complex is an ideal spot to spend a holiday - the boys enjoyed the driving range and we all liked the club house in the evenings.
We look forward to our next visit!

Absolutely Brilliant!

Stayed in this apartment in April 2009. We were a party of four and found the apartment spacious and modern with excellent facilities! The complex itself was very well maintained with lovely gardens and plenty of pools. We were met by Mike at the airport and he acquainted us with the local resort, which we found very helpful. The owner has equiped this apartment with comfortable furniture and plenty of utensils for cooking etc. We were able to make use of the bikes that came with the apartment on a daily basis which we enjoyed very much and this allowed us to see the local area. There were plenty of restaurants to choose from and they all seemed quite reasonably priced. We walked along the beach most days and I have to say it was one of the nicest beaches I have ever been to. All in all, this was an excellent holiday and I would recommend anyone to stay here. We have already booked for next year! Thank you for a lovely holiday!

Excellent Roda Golf Apartment

We spent a week in the apartment in late October. It was very easy to find from the airport and in a superb location. We were met by Kevin who showed us to the apartment he was very friendly and informative. The accommodation was very new, well furnished and spotlessly clean. Plenty of towels, bedding and a well stocked kitchen. The resort is quiet and picturesque suitable for both families and golfers. A good sized pool and various play areas for children around the resort. A car is advisable, however the beach and town of Los Alcazares are only a 5 minute taxi ride away. As the apartment is ground floor it is perfect for wheelchairs and buggies. The market in Loz Alcazares two days a week is well worth a visit with lots of bargains from leather goods to lettuces to be found. Overall a fantastic property, great value for money and fantastic location we will definitely return.

Not just a Golfing Paradise ...

I really enjoyed my stay at "Solace" your apartment.

When arriving i found my-self with a huge smile when i first saw the resort and golf course. I really was taken back with the resort and complex, your apartment is first class, stylish and modern as is the resort.

The Roda Golf Course and Club and House were superb! the food and quality of service really were 5 Star.

Although not a necessity i recommend a car to enjoy the stunning beaches, shopping and choice of many restaurants, Check out the "Angus Steak House"

Roda and Los Alcazares.. Not just a Golfing Paradise, if you want the real spanish holiday away from the Norm' this is the place.

I had the best Golf trip for a long time and look forward to Easter and my return to "Solace" and the Roda Resort.
