Romantic rural retreat - a perfect place to unwind. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside; breathe the clean air, listen to the birds and the cicadas and enjoy the breathtaking views of the tranquil valley, and beyond, spectacular views of the rolling Algarve hills and glimpses of the sea. This is a tranquil and unspoilt area abundant in olives, almonds carobs, oranges and lemons (just smell the orange blossom!). There are quiet lanes and tracks for walking, and spring time, the fields are full of an abundance of wild flowers. The cottage has 2 double bedrooms, a bathroom (1st floor) ,and living area, and open plan kitchen and dining area, leading onto a shaded terrace with honeysuckle covered pergola and barbeque. Beyond that, the secluded landscaped garden and the 3,5 x 7m pool with timber decking. Air-conditioning in the bedrooms, and wood burning stove in the living area. Only 15 mins from the blue flag beaches and 3 golf courses. Tavira only 5km away

Nearest Airport: Faro at 30 Kilometres
Nearest Ferry: Santander at 2000 Kilometres
Nearest Train: Tavira at 5 Kilometres
Nearest Beach: beach at 7.0 Kilometres

Within easy access of the A22 motorway, and the EN125, all amenities can be easily reached. Only 5 minutes drive from the beautiful historic town of Tavira, with its river, churches art galleries, restaurants and bars. There a choice of blue flag beaches, in the Parque National da Ria Formosa, (Nature reserve), and golf courses. There are ferries and boat trips to and from the beaches on the Ria and on the Guardian river. Places of interest include local east Algarve villages and small towns, such as Sao bras, Vila Real de Sto Antonio, casro Marim, and further afield, Mertola, Alzejur, Serpa and Beja in the Alentejo. Only 1/2 hour to Spain. Seville is 1.5 hours drive, Ayamonte only 1/2 hour. During the summer there is always something going on - festivals of art, music film,dance and street theatre. There are castles and forts palacios and churches to visit, many showing evidence of the 500 year Moorish occupation.

We stayed at Casa Boavista in March 09, which turned out to be a good time to go as the roads and towns were deserted, yet the weather was fine (the pool and sea were a bit chilly but bearable!).

Definitely a good place to unwind. You could stock up with food and stay at the house all week, though there are places nearby worth visiting, and we had tapas one lunchtime across the border in Spain. Tavira is a pleasant town with plenty of restaurants, and other resorts along the coast have good eateries, but you'd be pushed to find a restaurant with a view like that from the house!

The house is fully equipped, and the owners live nearby in case of any problems. Only takes 20 mins fom Faro airport, but a hire car is essential.

We plan to return!

A charming comfortable cottage with wonderful views. Absolute tranquility yet within a few minutes drive of golf, beaches and Tavira. 2009 will be our 5th consecutive year - surely no better recommendation!
