Ventnor holiday cottage "Ocean View Cottage" in Ventnor

I couldn't believe our luck when I found this cottage online: charmingly decorated, in a great location, reasonably priced and allowed dogs! In fact the first time we tried it was already booked so I booked months in advance to secure it this summer.
The cottage looks like the pictures and is deceptively spacious: it accommodated two adults, three teenage children and the dog easily. What you can't see so well in the pictures is that it was also spotlessly clean and in good decorative order. The caveat with the dog is that it was not allowed upstairs but I think that is very reasonable. Also in the summer months there are certain parts of the beach only where you can take a dog: usually at each end with the middle section off limits. But, with the exception of Osborne House, our dog was welcome everywhere and even asked into some shops to be made a fuss of.
The view was glorious - lovely to wake up to the shimmering blue sea and sit on the small terrace sipping wine or eating our fish and chips (from the chippy up the road which is definiely recommended). Of course you do pay for that view in the steep climb but not that arduous.
I would recommend Ventnor itself (which apparently is one of the up and coming resorts in Britain). Good mix of shops, restaurants and has plenty of charm. The whole island was great but I do think Ventnor was one of the better locations.
Steep Hill Cove is charming, unusual and worth the walk.
There was a good mix of things to do on the island. My son really enjoyed his tank ride, and it was half the cost of a more famous tank museum on the mainland.
We would really recommend the Taverners pub in Godshill for their food. We tried the Hambrough and although good felt it fell a little short of expectation, but reasonable value so would give it another try. Their sister venue in Bonchurch looked good although we didn't actually go in - but pretty location. Afternoon tea on terrrace at Osborne House also great location.
The isle of Wight felt like a step back in time, but in a good way, and with good contemporary food.
We will visit again and will happily come back to Ocean View.

We wanted somewhere with sea views and this lovely cottage has them aplenty! It has been beautifully decorated and is easy to find just outside the town of Ventnor.
Its very hilly here, but good to build those thigh muscles.
Already planning a return trip!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage, it's ideally situated in Ventnor which isn't far from any of the main tourist spots. We had everything we needed in the cottage, it was very clean on arrival, exactly as described in the advertisement.

Would recommend using the fish and chip shop at the top of the road really clean, friendly service, great food. Would also recommend the chocolate shop at Godshill for gifts.

Debby the owner was most helpful from booking to any queries we had before our trip, ferry etc.

Would def recommend the cottage to any age range, we took our two month old baby, but is also ideal for couples or larger families.
