Le-Marche is one of Italy’s most attractive and least spoilt regions located between the Southern Apennines and the Adriatic coast. It is a scenic region with mountains and valleys, hills, olive groves, terraced vineyards and flat low lands along its 170 km Adriatic coast. Although each year sees an increase in its popularity with tourists, it is as yet not swamped. Villa Mangia Sassi lies in the heart of an area now being called “Gods Green Triangle”, Sarnano, Penna San Giovanni, and Monte San Martino. Rocky peaks, mountain streams and steep gorges provide spectacular scenery, in contrast to the long stretches of sand and picturesque seaside towns. There is the local ski resort of Bolongnola, complete with lifts etc, approximately 8 miles away. Other places to visit in the region are: Ancona (70miles), Pescara (90 miles), Bolonga Forli (150 miles) and Rome 140 miles.There are many seaside resorts along the Adriatic coast Porto San Giorgio . San Bernadetto, Ascoli and many more.

Gualdo (1.5km away) is centred around a small piazza with a very pleasant bar there are about ten small shops, bakery, bank, post office and a small street market on Tuesdays. There are also two restaurants a play area for children and teenagers in a small park tends to be the focal point with organised games of soccer for local and visitors in the summer months. Two all weather floodlit tennis courts are a recent addition with coaching and court hire available. Penna San Giovanni also about 2 miles away it is a walled medieval village with roughly the same shops and facilities as Gualdo; it has a small supermarket. Set 700 metres above sea level, magnificent views can be obtained from the little park perched on top of the village. The village also has a really nice pizzeria and bar [our favourite].
