Comfortable and well-equipped cottage

Review Submitted: July 24, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We had a great stay in this cottage for 10 days in June 2009.
There is loads to do in the surrounding area - from beaches, castles and gardens to long walks and bike rides, not to mention having Edinburgh within easy reach.
The cottage is really well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We brought far too much stuff on the basis of other cottage stays and much of it remained unpacked.
Morag is a great hostess, she was full of great information, and the visitor information in the cottage is really excellent.
With a 2½ year old, we spent some of every day on one of the many beaches close by, but also explored the local castles which he loved.
I'd have no hesitation at all in recommending this as a holiday house and look forward to a return visit ourselves.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind review, you were such a nice family and I am pleased to know that you had a great holiday. I have kids myself so I have a pretty good idea of the things you need to make a cottage a "home from home".

I am really glad to know that you enjoyed the beaches and castles of East Lothian - because I love them too!

A perfect home from home.

Review Submitted: April 23, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
I have just returned from a lovely break at Haywood Cottage. It was perfect. It was beautifully furnished with, what looked like brand new furniture. It was comfortable and cozy yet very stylish.

The kitchen has everything you would expect in your home kitchen. It even everything from cake mixing bowls to a coffee cafatiere. There is a washing machine and even a dishwasher.

Upstairs, there are two good size bedrooms. One double and one twin. The bed linen is beautifully soft and very welcoming and the towels are beautifully fluffy on your skin.

The owner is very hospitable and bent over backwards to make her self available. Although we did not take her up on her offer, she offered, for a small cost, to buy in any groceries and to arrange any activities that we wanted to do. There was a lovely bottle of wine, tea and coffee with milk in the fridge for our arrival.

The cottage is ideally set in a small hamlet village. The only noise we heard was from the road outside, which was minimal. It is situated 10 mins drive from Dunbar, with some little quaint shops, banks, grocery stores and a few lovely seafood restaurants. The owner has her own pack up of local information, from surfing to hill walking routes, from cycle routes to local amenities. We took her advice and visited a restaurant called Creel in Dunbar, near the harbor. I must say that the meal was hard to beat. The best service, with the best piece of sole I have had in a long time. Another half hour on the train from Dunbar, and you are in the centre of Edinburgh. There is some beautiful coast line, with some amazing unspoiled sandy beaches within only 20mins drive away.

We could not find fault with this property and if i was to visit the east coast of Scotland again, I will be looking to book again. I have also already advised my friends and colleagues.

Perfect holiday cottage, excellent price, great hospitality, exactly how it is described in the website information, the property was immaculately clean and tidy - would definitely recommend.
Owner's Response: One of the best bits of renting out a cottage is meeting the visitors, and Elizabeth and Simon were delightful. I am so glad they enjoyed their short break and very grateful for their review.
