Perching on a hillside hamlet with spectacular views over the Mediterranean coastline, CASALE DELLE LAVANDE, offers rustic, stylish comfort in a typical Tuscan setting. This delightful property is elegantly furnished, with ancient stone floors, wooden rafters and will accommodate up to 11 persons self catering its 5 bedrooms (3 doubles , 1 single + sofabed in the main house). The 5th bedroom (twin) is located in a separate apartment with separate entrance, kitchenette and bathroom. The house has a traditional living-kitchen-dining room with access to the pergola and a large additional living/dining room, with kitchen and pizza oven on the ground floor. Indoors, the style and comfort of this property leaves nothing to be desired, but it is the outside area which surpasses every expectation: a beautifully crafted private garden (2000m2) with swimming pool (10,5m x4,5m), scented shrubs, olives and a terraced pergola with dramatic sea views, fully furnished for dining 'al fresco'.

Montemagno is a small village in the hills between Lucca and the coast. A quiet rural location which nevertheless has a local ‘alimentari’ for food shopping, a couple of bars and a restaurant – owned and run by the owner and her family. The house is within easy reach of the cultural and historical interest of towns such as Lucca (18km), Camaiore (5km), and Pisa (35km). Florence, the cultural heart of Tuscany, is less than an hour away. Visit the Puccini opera theatre and his home on the lake, or one of the many summer concert s or sagre (outdoor food and dancing). Only a short distance towards the Mediterranean coast, lie some of the most famous beaches of the Versilia: Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi, renowned for their white sands and exuberant night life, and much visited by VIPs and film stars. The opportunities for entertainment, cultural and sporting activities are endless, making this a truly flexible holiday destination for all the family, young people and adults alike.

  • Recently restored and decorated for the owner's own use, the bathrooms in this villa are in pristine condition, and decorated to the highest standard. The poolside shower has warm water, and the pool water itself is treated naturally with salt water rather than chlorine.

  • The bedrooms in the main house are bright but cool with terracotta flooring, built in wardrobes and simple, classically Tuscan, furnishings. The views from the French windows stretch as far as the eye can see across the olive trees of the valley below and across to the sea. The studio bedroom with its separate access, ensuite bathroom (with bath tub and shower) and kitchenette is modern and light. The studio room has twin singles which can be put together to make a double, and a single childbed (which if not needed can be used for additional seating). There is a comfortable sofa bed in the ground floor living room for additional accommodation with connecting shower room and WC.

Notes: Even in the heat of the Tuscan summer, a gentle sea breeze and its hillside position ensures that the CASALE DELLE LAVANDE remains cool and pleasant both indoors and outside, so air conditioning is not needed. The garden and pool are illuminated at night, and the terraced pergola is a perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and local culinary specialities - and immerse oneself in the peace and tranquillity of this unique location, listening to the sound of crickets, breathing the scent of lavender (from which the villa takes its name) and watching the fireflies sparkle. The accommodation is self-catering, but Silvia and her family own and run the local restaurant and on request, will happily arrange to cook a special dinner for you at the villa, or give a Tuscan cooking class (learn how to make a perfect pizza in the wood oven!). A daily maid service can be arranged and the fridge can be stocked with basic items in preparation for your arrival, on request.
