Casale Il Castagnino nestles in the hills between the medieval towns of Lucca and Camaiore. The farmhouse has been lovingly restored and romantically furnished giving it an air of warm and refined elegance, surrounded by a splendid garden with extensive lawns (3000m2) filled with the colour and scent of roses and lavender which grow in abundance. Dating back to the 18th Century, the house inside has all the classic features of a typical Tuscan farmhouse: terracotta floors, wooden beamed ceilings, spacious and comfortable rooms. Outside, guests can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this rural setting, and dine al fresco under the grape vines of the pergola, or swim in the pool. The farmhouse (190m2) will sleep up to 12 guests in its 5 delightfully decorated bedrooms with views over the garden and surrounding hillside. Indoors there is fully equipped rustic-style kitchen, living room with ample and comfortable seating and an elegant dining room with wood burning fireplace.

Montemagno is a group of small hamlets in the hills between Lucca and the coast. A quiet rural location which nevertheless has a local ‘alimentari’ for food shopping, a couple of bars and a restaurant – owned and run by the owner and his family – which specialises in classic Tuscan cooking. The house is within easy reach of the cultural and historical interest of towns such as Lucca (18km), Camaiore (5km), and Pisa (35km). Florence, the cultural heart of Tuscany and birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, is less than an hour away. Only a short distance towards the Mediterranean coast, lie some of the most famous beaches of the Versilia: Viareggio and Forte dei Marmi, renowned for their white sands and exuberant night life, and much frequented by VIPs and film stars. The opportunities for entertainment and cultural events are many and diverse, making this a truly flexible holiday destination for all the family, young people and adults alike.

  • IMPORTANT REMARKS:
    - rates include the linen ( bed and table linen, 2 hand towels plus a bath towel per person + tea cloths)
    - heating and electricity, to be paid cash according to the amount consumed. Gas/heating: metered, Euro 5 per m3.
    - if central heating is not used, gas & water charge is Euro 1 per day per person to be paid in cash on arrival.
    - Final cleaning: Euros 100 to be paid cash on arrival day (compulsory). A daily cleaning service is also not included but it may be requested at Euro 15 for each hour.
    - Pets: Extra-charge of Euros 50 per week/pet
    - Security deposit: Euros 500 cash on arrival day. It will be returned on the departing day, with deduction of the amount due for eventual damages.

Notes: The farmhouse is in a quiet hillside village with easy access to local amenities (food shop, coffee bar, restaurant all within walking distance). Cesare the owner runs the local restaurant serving delicious Tuscan specialities, and can arrange a special dinner at the farmhouse on request. There are insect nets on the windows, and the cooler air of this hillside location assures a peaceful night's sleep without the need for air conditioning. The pool and garden are illuminated at night and the pretty terraced pergola with barbecue is a great spot for dining 'al fresco' or enjoying a glass of local wine in this tranquil setting, filled with the scent of roses and lavender which grow in abundance in the garden. For the more energetic guests, there is a water volley ball net for the swimming pool, 5 mountain bikes, a ping pong table, bowls, darts, and a choice of board games. Access to the house and garden is via an electrically operated gate with ample parking inside the grounds.
