Les Houches holiday apartment: Les Houches

Have recently returned for a lovely holiday in Les Houches Chamonix.
The Apartment was very well described and the setting itself was really beautiful!
The property was clean, spacious and more than fitted the needs of our party. The village of Les Houches has real charm and the view of the Church and mountains from the apartment is truly amazing.
I would certainly recommend this apartment to others who either want a skiing holiday or a summer walking holiday

I had a lovely holiday in this extremely well-located apartment. Les Houches is an attractive village and staying in this clean, comfortable well-equipped accommodation helped make my summer break thoroughly enjoyable. I travelled from Essex to Geneva without a hitch and met up with a friend at Geneva airport where we caught the very reliable Chamonix express which delivered us to the door of La Rustica.Chamonix express was equally good for the return journey. We were favourably impressed by the apartment as we settled in. We spent our first few hours sitting on the sunlit balcony enjoying the spectacular view as we awaited the arrival of our friends, a married couple with a 21 month old daughter. There was plenty of room for us all and everyone continued to enjoy the lovely views throughout the week. Every morning began with a truly delicious breakfast purchased from the bakery about 2 minutes walk away. A supermarket is close by
so self catering is easy although we all enjoyed the occasional meal out. I especially liked the restaurant right next door. We made a couple of trips into Chamonix by bus which we caught just across the road. The highlight of Chamonix was a trip up Aguille de Midi. It is unquestionably worth paying the extra to take the cable car ride across the alps over to Italy which was simply brilliant. Lots of people we met did not do this and they really missed out because this part of the excursion is ten times better that just going up the Aguille de Midi. On another day we took the train ( the station is a short walk from the apartment) and visited Lake Passy. I loved swimming on a beautiful sunny day in the lake against the mountain backdrop. Very memorable. I had a good holiday and would enjoy a repeat summer visit as there are still things to do that we did not have time for. However I hope my next trip will be in winter as by all accounts the scenery then is spectacular and I have no reason to doubt it. As I approach retirement I know it is a bit late to start skiing but better late than never.
I would definitely recommend this apartment to friends and relatives and hope they enjoy a stay as much as I did.

We went in May 2008 for a five day break. We flew to Turin, collected our hire car and drove for approx two hours comfortably to the Mont Blanc tunnel. Directions to Les Houches easy to follow.
On arrival at the apartment we found it clean and welcoming. We quickly settled in and read the tourist information left by the owner. We then explored the local vicinity, supermarket, restaurant and bakers (excellent pain aux raisins).
The idea of our stay was explore the walking trails and in my husbands case the running trails. He is a keen runner and described it as his sort of town!
We did eat out on occasions in Chamonix but did find it a little expensive. Towards the end of our break we found that after a days walking, going to the local supermarket and picking up a cooked chicken and salad a more convenient healthy option and cheaper. The wine was good too!!
The views from the apartment were spectacular and you never tired of the viiew come rain or shine.
We would love to return again at some date.
