POITIERS- FUTUROSCOPE: 45 minutes drive to the city of Poitiers. A lovely day out, the city centre is a large leafy square with restaurants on one side. The shops are marvellous and all the high fashion names are there. Futuroscope is a fantastic day out for all the family; there are undercover virtual reality rides and huge cinema screens contained within futuristic buildings. The firework display over the lake should not be missed, incorporating lasers and holographic images that are incredible and have to be seen to be believed

THINGS TO DO IN THE AREA: Valley of the monkeys -a really fun day out for the kids, see the animals in their natural habitat, walk through their compounds and watch them being fed, at nearby Romagne. Horse riding-riding stables, 10 minute drive at Pouilliac Golf At the Manoir de Beauvoir, Poitiers (18 hole course) Shopping-10 minutes drive, huge hypermarket (intermarche) with shoe shop, chemist, book/cd/paper shop, newsagent, flower shop. Garages, petrol station, discount supermarket, hairdresser etc Canoeing/ kayaking/ fishing-from early summer on the river Charente, Civray. Canoes and kayaks can be hired at the campsite and bar opposite is a childrens playground. Les iles de payre- acres of lakes for canoeing enthusiasts. Civray-15 minutes drive, for fishing, Romanesque church, twice weekly markets, canoeing, and restaurants.
