Santiago de la Ribera is a small quiet town located on the west side of the beautiful Mar Menor (translated as Minor Sea) in South East Spain. The area is well known for its international golf courses, sailing, windsports, cycling, walking and exploring in the region, which is extremely flat. The Mar Menor, a vast salt water lagoon attached through a very small channel to the Mediterranean, is well know for its health benefits, owing to the fact that it is enriched with minerals, is pollution free, and the fish and other seafoods caught from it are claimed to be the healthiest in the world to eat. Likewise, the waters of the Mar Menor are extremely salient, buoyant and safe for swimming in its continual 18 degree temperature therefore ideal swimming for all ages.
Santiago de la Ribera, and other nearby towns, boasts a rich variety of restaurants, tapas bars, shops and supermarkets. Many of the restaurants specialise in a variety of seafoods caught locally.
