On the North West of Arran on a heathery hill looking across the sea to Kintyre. Between the coastal villages of Pirnmill and Machrie which have a restaurant and tea room, golf course, tennis court, beaches, caves and bronze age stone circles. North is enchanting Lochranza with its ancient Castle, whisky distillery and scenic harbour where you can see seals, and otters. Deer also graze along the shore and on the popular golf course. The Waverly, the last paddle steamer on The Clyde makes its regular summertime visits to the quay. From here you can also do a bit of Island hopping on the Cloanaig Ferry across to Kintyre, Gigha , Islay and Jura. For keen walkers and climbers there are beautiful gentle coastal walks to catch glimpses of porpoises, miinke whales, dolphins, basking sharks, otters and birds; and for the more energetic hillwalker there are dramatic routes through valleys, past waterfalls, up hills and to lochs all with stunning views, birds and wildlife.
