La Casa Piccola is set on the wooded lower slopes of the unspoiled Mt Subasio regional park. It's peaceful surroundings make it perfect for a relaxing summer holiday yet it is only 7 kilometres from ancient, pink-stoned Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis. With beautiful views over vineyards, olive groves and green valleys,it is ideal for experiencing the delights of the Italian countryside while still being in easy reach of the wonderful restaurants, markets, fashion shops and art-filled historic hill-towns of unspoiled Umbria. Sit iand read under the pergola in the delightful garden, to the background buzz of crickets and birdsong or go walking on the well-marked tracks that criss-cross the mountain itself, where you will rarely sight another walker. You may even see some of the wildlife like badgers, deer or porcupine that make their homes in the woods. Within easy reach of La Casa Piccola is historic Assisi, one of the most beautiful towns in Italy with its magnificent 12thc. basilica housing frescos by Giotto . As well, there are the various sites associated with St Francis, to explore. Only a little further afield are Perugia, the regional capital and a university town renowned for its fashion boutiques, Spello, Spoleto, Montefalco, Gubbio and Sienna. Or swim at one of the beaches on Lake Trasimeno, where you can also catch a ferry out to one of its islands. The restaurants of Assisi, serving typical local cuisine, are a delight or you can shop at some of the weekly markets in the area. Both Rome and Florence are only two and a half hours away by train. The more adventurous may like to hang-glide from the top of Mt Subasio, while others will enjoy visiting the museums and ancient churches in the area. Best of all, however, is just to relax in the beautiful Italian countryside in a country cottage that provides every comfort

  • The weekly rates are calculated on the basis that the renter will begin and end the rental on a Saturday. However, other start and end days can sometimes be arranged with the owner. A deposit of 25% is asked for on making the booking with the remainder to be paid two months before the rental begins. If the bookins is cancelled, the deposit is non-refundable. Payments can be made by Paypal or by cheque made out to Mrs M. K. Fletcher. Notes: There is a bread-making machine in the kitchen. The washing machine is shared with the owner and located in a separate utility room . The floors throughout the house are tiled with the exception of the inner balcony room, which has a wood floor. The walls are white and hung with attractive art works. There is a good stock of books in the house as well as CDs, DVDs and videos. There is Sky television. The living room looks out over the garden and the kitchen window looks out over the wooded valley behind the house. The owners of La Casa Piccola are sometimes in residence next door and can provide helpful information about the local area, restaurants, shopping, markets etc etc, if required. The house is located in a small hamlet of half a dozen houses where the neighbours are friendly local Italian people. Although children and babies are welcome, the house is not suitable for toddlers because of the two internal staircases.

'Nothing but compliments regarding the house, the area and the owners. La Casa Piccola is a lovely house and Mary and Brian are excellent hosts.

Wonderful La Casa Picola

We have stayed there several times with friends and what an utter joy it is. Superb location, away from everyone, but close enough to Assisi to make it easy to eat in the lovely restaurants and sightsee. There is so much to see in the surrounding area which is so beautiful.
The property is very clean and tidy and has all the amenities one could wish for. The owners live nearby and are very friendly and amenable.We hope to make it a regular holiday getaway destination for many years to come.
