Access to the ski station is by free continuous through out the day buses from and through the village. Or by car to the large ample car park. The ski station is through the village, and about five minutes by car or bus.Skiing back to the village is possible.The ski bus is only about three minutes walk from the house and is at the beginning of the route so you always will have a seat !!!!
Non skiers:
NON SKIERS
Non skiers can enjoy less energetic Raquette snow shoe walking, along the makers snow trails. There are husky dog rides for adult and children up on the plateau of lIENZ.
Marked footpaths for winter wonderland walks. The tourist information organises walks and events for the non skier.There is a market in the nearby town of Luz every Monday, that's winds its way around the town.
THERMES
THE THERMES OPEN AT FOUR EVERY AFTERNOON LATE INTO THE evening in the ski season.
From a swim in the warm sulphurous waters, a massage in oils, sauna, individual hot baths that massage your body in your own marble bathroom, to more complex treatments........a visit at least once should be included in your itinerary.....some things need to be booked in advance some you don't need to, check at the thermes reception.......dressing gowns, towels and bath shoes are included in the reasonably priced treats on offer........
SUMMER IN bareges:
Bareges lies at the gateway of the NATIONAl PYRENEES PARC, an area of outstanding beauty.The mountain opens itself up to a wide range of activities in Bareges and locally;
Walking; the walking potential covers all abilities form a gentle stroll to mountain hiking. Short circuits from the village take you through meadows,woodland forest and charming picturesque Pyrenean villages .Some farmers still drop their hay by hand.At the end of spring and early autumn you can see the transmigration of the sheep and cows to and from their high mountain lush pastures....There is a well signposted footpath network.In the house there are documented walks starting from two hours circuits to all day.
Trout fishing;In the gushing mountain streams. We have the 'gave' just a few yards form our garden.
Horse Riding;Both on the plateau above the village and at an equestrian centre in nearby Luz St Saveuer
Cylcing; Our house is situated on the famous COL DU TOURMALET road.
