The directions to this villa consisted of written directions and two poorly drawn maps, so we used sat nav, which caused many problems, only to be informed that everyone had problems when using sat nav, might have been useful to know this beforehand.
This villa is a long way from anywhere, located up a rather steep hill, there is a restaurant behind it, but other than that you have to drive everywhere. I asked before going if there were local things for my 5 year old son and was told there was a local play park, what I was not told was that given how steep the hills are we would have to drive to it, so not local as far as we were concerned.
The bed were clean and made up and the towels were very clean, however, I did find mould on a shower door, mould/or marks from old mould in the fridge and someone elses hair in the other shower (en-suite - do not plan to use this if you are larger than average).
There was no oven, and although I do not think they said there was, it should have been clearly pointed out, although that said would be hard to prepare anything as there was no work surface other than the top of the washing machine and dishwasher. Shower gel, shampoo etc was available, as long you do not mind using up what others have left behind.
The door to the balancy for the twin room did not seem to have a key, at least not one I was given, which not only is a waste, we asked to have this room made up purely for this reason, but also is rather dangerous.
We had to leave early for family reasons, but if we had not, we would have left anyway.
The advert for this property is very mis-leading. It says it is a private detached villa, which technically is true, but what it does not say is that the owners live underneath and their only entrance/exit is to walk past the supposedly private pool. It is not private if like me you felt you had to cover up or move when the owners had to walk past you everytime they arrived or left.
Also it says they have sky tv, again technically true, but they only had sky news and German channels.
I would definitely not recommend this property to anyone.
Owner's Response: This is the first time in 6 years of renting out this villa, (many people coming several times), that we have received a complaint and we take its content very seriously. I respond to the specific complaints below.
The villa is approximately 0.75 km from the local village, for many people this is part of the attraction of the accommodation!! For this reason we stipulate very clearly in our advertisement that a car is necessary. As with many places in rural Spain you need a car in order to fully enjoy the area. My email referred to playgrounds in village, the distance and time to the village are clearly stated in our advertisement, so I am a little confused as to why these comments have been made.
As a service to our guests we provide maps and directions to the villa. In 6 years no one else has got lost??!! There are many different Sat Nav systems on the market and many different map updates for each system. Some of them work in rural Spain, some don’t. We do think it is a little unfair to blame us for the inadequacy of a Sat Nav system!! Fortunately, as soon as this lady reverted to using our villa directions she found the property straight away. We strongly advise our guests to use the maps and directions that we provide.
We pride ourselves on our standard of cleanliness, and indeed we are very regularly complimented on it by guests. If this lady had drawn our attention to her concerns we would have immediately rectified the situation for her.
We agree with this lady’s comment about the size of the ensuite shower, we also like to have a large area to shower in. The shower base is a standard size in Spain but we are looking at trying to find an alternative solution that will give more space and convenience to our guests.
There is a very clear list of all items included in the villa. There is a large table and chopping boards provided for food preparation.
It is clearly stated in our advert that TV is Sky news/BBC World.
One last point, we do not claim to be a five star establishment, hence the price paid by this lady was very reasonable (check the website). What the vast majority of our guests tell us is that this is a very large, well decorated, beautifully appointed villa that is outstanding value for money. We like our guests to holiday in a relaxed, immaculately clean environment and if they have any problems or concerns and they are brought to our attention we immediately resolve them.
