Casa Ananda is the ideal place for your summer holiday rental on the Silver Coast. This lovely new townhouse is in a peaceful location in the centre of a traditional village overlooking the beautiful horseshoe bay of Sao Martinho do Porto, which is just 10 minutes away. The village has a well stocked shop, a cafe/bakery, and a bar. There are many more restaurants within a short drive. If you want a stay in the 'real Portugal' rather than in a faceless tourist development, then this is the place for you. We have tried to create a really comfortable atmosphere at Casa Ananda, and you will find everything you need for a relaxing holiday in the sun. The house sleeps six, in three bedrooms, two of which have their own balconies. No queuing for the bathroom - there are three, including one ensuite. You will also find a well equipped kitchen and outside, a a barbeque and patio area, ideal for sitting out on those long summer evenings.

Casa Ananda is in the centre of a village less than ten minutes away from the beautiful sandy beach at São Martinho do Porto, which is situated in an amazing horseshoe shaped bay that provides safe and calm water for bathing, a rarity on the Atlantic coast. There are many other wonderful beaches within a few minutes drive. All the basics can be bought from the village shop or bakery, within 100 metres of the house, while São Martinho has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and bars. The larger towns of Caldas da Rainha and Alcobaça are within an easy 20 minute drive. There is a weekly market at Nazare (20km). There are endless opportunities for sightseeing, including the world heritage sites of Alcobaça and the medieval town of Obidos. Even a day in Lisbon is possible - take the train from São Martinho, and leave the car at home! The Silver Coast is a great centre for golf, and we are only 25 minutes away from the world class course at Praia del Rey.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Easter 2010 - 26th March - 11th April - £395 per week.
  • A 25% non refundable deposit is required to secure the property, with the balance payable eight weeks before arrival. For late bookings the full cost is payable at the time of booking. Payment by sterling cheque drawn on a UK bank or direct bank transfer in Sterling or Euro.

    Please note that for new bookings we require a Fully Refundable Security Deposit of £200 (250 Euros) to be paid with the final balance for your holiday. The deposit will be refunded to directly to you within one week of your departure once the property has been cleaned and checked. The Security deposit is not required for guests who have stayed with us before.
  • Prices are for the property per week in UK Pounds.
    Short breaks (3 nights or more) outside high season are usually available.
    We discount prices for bookings of two weeks or more - and if you want to rent for a month or longer we can offer a larger discount - contact us for details. :)

    Changeover day
    We are flexibility in changeover day, dependant on other bookings. Please vacate the property by 10am on your day of departure, so that we can prepare the house for any incoming guests. Arrival any time after 3pm.

Notes: The property has a large open plan lounge with comfortable seating around a cosy *recuperador* wood burning stove, which makes Casa Ananda particularly suitable for late autumn and winter holidays. There is also a large flat screen TV, with home cinema system, surround sound speakers and satellite access to BBC World. We provide a selection of DVD's, and information guides, maps and books about the area. The large kitchen-dining room has an antique pine dresser, and a huge eight foot table which can easily seat 10 people! There is a particularly well equipped kitchen with a large five ring gas hob with wok burner, electric fan oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and a very large fridge freezer. There is partial air-conditioning (mobile unit) and extra heaters are provided for cooler days. Casa Ananda is a non-smoking property, and smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the house. Outside: To the rear of the house there is a large terrace, with a built in barbecue, and also a hardwood table and chairs for eating out on those hot summer days. At the front of the house is a small garden area where we have just planted bougainvillea and jasmine so by Spring 2009 the balcony in front of the house should be covered in a profusion of beautiful flowers. There is a large secure garage beneath the house, with plenty of room for 2 cars and endless storage space. Please note that there are several steps up to the front door of the house, access would be difficult for an unaccompanied disabled visitor.

General Information: Linen and towels for use in the house are included but please bring your own beach towels. Linen and towels are exchanged weekly. The house will be cleaned ready for your arrival; additional cleaning can be arranged during your stay at extra cost. We provide all the basics you will need for your holiday - including hairdryer, a *starter* supply of charcoal for the barbeque, and logs for the recuperador.

Getting here: We are only an hour from Lisbon airport on the new A8 motorway; and just over two from Porto. Lisbon, Porto and Faro are all served by low-cost airlines. For car hire we suggest using Holiday Autos. If you don't want to drive from the airport, there is an excellent bus service from Lisbon's Sete Rios bus station direct to Caldas da Rainha, from where you can hire a car with Europcar. You can also get door to door transfers from the airport with a chauffeur driven car.

We enjoyed our vacation in Casa Ananda very much.
The house was very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We could not find a colander so we bought the owners one........ plastic and not stainless steel- sorry Julie!
We all enjoyed the food and many films and books which we found upon our arrival.
Casal Pardo is perfectly situated for adventuring in Portugal. We went as far as Porto, Ericera (for the fish and shellfish) and Evora.
Owner's Response: We hope all our guests enjoy their holiday at Casa Ananda as much as snuffiepet did. :)

The house is also our holiday home and we have tried to make sure that everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided, even on those rare occasions when the weather isn't up to par! Some flights arrive quite late, and we know what is is like to arrive after a long journey, tired, and just wanting a cup of tea and a snack: so all our guests will find a basic *welcome pack* with some basics to get your holiday started. We also provide lots of local information, train, bus and shop opening times, and full information on the house, so you don't have to spend hours wondering how the dishwasher works!

We've always found the key to making sure that people have a good time on holiday is to make sure not to make false economies, and to live up to what our guests' expectations of good quality, and reasonable priced accommodation. If things do go wrong, we have a local contact who is on hand to help out, and we are only a phone call away.
