Set in the golden triangle of Armagnac country in Gascony, Le Vieux Presbytère nestles into the hillside on the edge of the hamlet of Noulens. This sleepy village is surrounded by vineyards, fields of sunflowers and maize and has good views to the Pyrenees. The barn attached to Le Presbytère has been converted into two beautiful self-contained holiday apartments, keeping some of the French charm but with all modern amenities. They are privately situated at the end of the owner's property, sleep a maximum of 6 and 4 and are surrounded by a pretty garden with fruit trees and an avenue of pine trees just next to the gites is the 10 x 5m salt-water swimming pool, which is alarmed. The two gites may be rented together for a larger group of friends or family. Meals (or a barbeque) can be prepared and delivered to your gite. L’Atelier, for bed and breakfast, is part of the main house with its own entrance looking out onto the garden and pool.

La Mouette (The Seagull) is the larger of the 2 gites at Le Vieux Presbytere. With a west facing balcony and views to the south over the Pyrenees this provides light and spacious holiday accommodation with all mod cons. On the mezzanine floor is a double bedroom, bathroom, sitting area which goes out onto the balcony. The mezzanine (as elsewhere) is painted in Farrow & Ball restful colours with a queen size double with good mattress and white linen. The bathroom is painted white with blue tiles, a Spanish basin and soft towels. On the ground floor another bedroom with twin beds, a sofabed and a separate shower room. The living space with Spanish tiles, is open plan with dining and sitting area for eating, reading and TV watching. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, cooker, microwave, fridge catering for 6 people. A wood burning fire makes this gite beautifully warm in winter. A big terrace outside with tables, umbrellas and bbq's make this perfect for sunny days.

This is rural France at its best! The Gers, where people live longer, is endowed with clear unpolluted skies, little traffic, friendly people, a temperate climate and a variety of fresh country produce found in the daily village markets. The area is renowned for its duck, foie gras and Armagnac and during the summer there are many festivals such as Jazz at Marciac, Country and Western at Mirande, Tempo Latino at Vic-Fezensac, bullfighting and horse racing. There is always something to see and do in the area from visiting medieval bastide villages (this is D'Artagnan country), beautiful landscapes, wine and Armagnac tasting, collecting antiques, riding, walking and cycling to just lazing by the pool on a hot summer's afternoon with a glass of fresh local wine! Le Vieux Presbytère is a 2 hour drive from Biarritz and the wonderful long, sandy beaches of the Atlantic. The Pyrenees are also 2 hours drive and have good, challenging skiing in the winter and wonderful alpine summer walks

All beds have crisp white linen with additions of toile de jouey and smart strips. Wardrobe, hanging space and chests for clothes, dressing tables as appropriate. L'Atelier for b and b is a converted workshop attached to the main house with private entrance and views over the swimming pool and garden. Tastefully decorated with subtle colours, an iron bed, with good comfortable mattress and crisp white sheets, the bedroom has an area with sofa and breakfast table. The bathroom is spacious, verging on luxurious with a double walk-in shower, Victorian bath and soft white towels. In all bedrooms and living rooms there are books and magazines, information folders on the local area. The owners are always on hand to help you enjoy this beautiful area of France.

Ski: Skiing in the Pyrenees is perfectly possible for a day. The drive is about 2 hours and gets you to La Mongee which is one of the highest peaks in the Pyrenees. February and March are the best skiing months.

Golf: Golf de Guinlet near Eauze is only 15 minutes drive from the gites This is a good, fairly challenging, pretty wooded 18 hole course. Other courses within a 45 minute drive are Auch, Chateau Parlane and Mont de Marsan.

Other Activities: Boule, Motor Racing, Bull Fighting, Jazz & Country & Western Festivals
