Great location if you like quiet outdoors and easy access to forest for walking and biking. Very peaceful at night, loads of wildlife right outside the windows. Cottage very well equipped and comfortable - especially kitchen and bathroom. Mid-way between Aviemore and Kungussie so handy for shops and other attractions. Good commuication and directions from owner. Lots of useful bits provided - maps, dvd's, games, books, broadband, phone etc.
Good activities locally - highly recommend Inshriach cake shop at the plant nursery, Kincraig Wildlife Park, bike tracks and walks in surrounding forest and round Rothiemurchus estate.
Owner's Response: Thanks for the review, glad you had a good time.

Ord Cottage

Review Submitted: June 27, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Our drive to Ord Cottage was 577 miles and our first visit to Scotland. Was it worth it? The answer is a resounding yes! The location of the cottage is second to none for anyone wishing to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.We have stayed in various holiday cottages over the years but the facillites in Ord Cottage were certainly far better than any we have experienced before. We did a little bit of touring in the car just to see the famous sights of Loch Ness, Ben Nevis Fort William and Pitlochery which were all a comfortable distance from the cottage. We have two dogs and walking was such a pleasure wherever we went, but even more so by the cottage where you could find a different route to try every day and round each corner you are greeted by another magnificent view. We cannot express how much we enjoyed our stay at the cottage and the dogs thought they were in heaven! The owner and the next door neighbours could not be more helpful. So if you want a get away from it all holiday then this should be your choice. But please leave a couple of weeks free for us as we will definetely return.

Fantastic property. Fully equipped to serve eight people. Beds were very comfortable!
The location is great for all types of outdoor activities, including cycling (we hired a bike from the nearby watersports centre), walking and bird watching (finches, siskins & great spotted woodpecker seen regularly at the bird feeders in the garden and osprey seen at Loch Insh nearby). Also close to garden centre which serves fantastic homemade cakes!
Would highly recommend this property.

Well what can I say!!!!! We booked this cottage at short notice for the October break as it was the only one in our price range, looking at the outside of the cottage I thought it wasn't up to much, WOW!!!! Never judge a book by it's cover, with a group of 8 this cottage was perfect, spacious lovely kitchen/dining (photo's dont do it justice) with every utensil you can imagine.

Plenty of games DVD's jigsaws books all their for you to use at your lesuire and the open fire was lovely after being out walking all day. Speaking of walking, this cottage is located in such a great setting, with the river Feshie literally on your doorstep, if you wanted to leave your car at the cottage everyday and still go out walking then, you could as their is so many walks to do locally with gorgeous scenery from all angles with Loch insh, Loch Uath and Lock eilen all within walking distance from the cottage and with little adventures for the children, my kids loved it, they are 6 & 9 and thought it was great. If I had to complain about anything I couldn,t, we will definatley be returning to this cottage early next year and look forward to it.

Communication with the owner was also second to none (even took my call whilst she was on holiday Ooops) she keeps you well informed and answers any questions you have and gives you as much info as she can an AAAAAAAA+ owner, thanks for everything.
