A wonderfully memorable holiday

I'll start by saying it was delightful. The drive from Jerez Airport to Vejer was around 50 mins, though an entirely straight forward journey. We were met by a lovely couple (Lesley and Derek) in Vejer, who led the way to the house and then showed us around. They were on hand throughout our holiday if we needed any help or additional advice or information. The house is really nice. Very comfortable, and located close to every possible amenity you could wish for, including a good supermarket and a first rate medical centre. We found a super little shop behind the supermarket who sold the best vegetables, salad and fruits at a cheaper price than the supermarket. The young man serving helped us at every opportunity with the Spanish names for everything. There are some fabulous restaurants in Vejer, including Los Perdices, meaning Partridge, which we found to serve the very best in seafood and of course their signature dish, Partridge which was delicious. The owner and staff are so helpful and friendly and they love children too! Another lovely bonus with this restaurant was that it wasn't expensive and it's within walking distance. The resort is just a wonderful haven for families or couples alike. The beaches are lovely (our favourite was at Bologna as it was very safe and shallow, so great for children or just paddling about). I'd recommend hiring a car as driving is not only extremely easy, but it also allows you the opportunity to drive to Seville, Cadiz and many other areas as we did. We bought the Lonely Planet Guide to Andalucia and it was just brilliant, from advising on great places to visit and eat and even where to park. If you're a horse lover, don't miss the amazing demonstrations given in Jerez. The horses are just beautiful and the show quite stunning. There are many Bodegas and if you like to have the odd glass of wine, you'll thoroughly enjoy the opportunity of tasting several local varieties. Towards the end of our holiday, my lovely chap got down on one knee and proposed to me at Los Canos de Meca, right under the 18th Century lighthouse where the Battle of Trafalgar was fought in 1806. A romantic end to a fabulous holiday. Oh, and by the way, I said YES!!
