Traharta or 'strand' is a beautiful area opposite Horse Island at the entrance to Castletownshend Harbour on the South West coast of Ireland. It is an unspoilt coast with safe beaches, surrounded by green fields and dairy cattle, making it an ideal place for children, or to just relax and get away from it all. The environment is one of the cleanest in Europe making it a paradise for photographers and artists or anyone wishing for a holiday breathing clean air. The cottage is three minutes walk from two beaches, two kilometers from Castletownshend, 6 kilometers from the market town of Skibbereen and 80 kilometers from Cork and its International Airport. The location is full of interest, eg Traharta Beach, Bay and islands, local walks, bike trails, horse riding. Baltimore has golf, sailing, diving, trips to Cape Clear and Sherkin Islands. Mizen Head, Schull and Bantry are all easy day trips by car as is the Bera peninsular, Glengarriff, Garnish Island Kenmare and the Ring of Kerry.
