La Gomera holiday apartment: Pueblo Don Thomas, Playa Santiago

Pueblo Don Thomas & Tecina Golf: Pueblo Don Thomas is a new village of apartments, villas and Country Club with pools near Playa Santiago. The nearby Tecina 18 hole championship golf course has spectacular views over the Atlantic and of Mount Tiede on Tenerife.The course follows a downhill route through wonderful scenery. Driving range and Club House. Lessons and courses can be booked with the professional. From our apartment, the Club House is about 5 minutes by car.

Other facilties, activities, and packing: We keep a small collection of books, CDs, and DVDs, cards and English and Spanish dictionaries, and phrase books in the apartment. For hill walking strong shoes or boots are recommended. Tennis racquets and balls are available when you book a court at the hotel but you will need to bring tennis shoes and suitable clothing. Golf clubs can be hired at the golf course and bikes can be hired in the village. For meals out a few items of smart casual clothing should be enough with something warm in case the evening is cooler. Don't forget sun hats and sunglasses.

Getting there: From Tenerife South airport take a bus or taxi to the ferry port, Los Christianos. You can book in advance or at the port. The small Fred Olsen ferry 'Benchi Express' sails from Los Christianos to Playa Santiago. The big Fred Olsen and Armas ferries (with outside and car decks) go to San Sebastian. From here a taxi, bus or hire car (40 minutes to the apartment). The Line 3 bus (Alajero - San Sebastian) goes to Playa Santiago. If you ask, it will stop at Pueblo Don Thomas (5 minute downhill walk to the apartment). If you plan to use the bus please do ask us about catching it! From Tenerife North go to the central bus station in Santa Cruz and book one of the ferries from Los Christianos. The ticket includes a ferry bus to Los Christianos. From Tenerife North and Gran Canaria (Las Palmas) there are also daily Binter flights to the little airport near Playa Santiago.

Other Activities: Padel, mini golf, table tennis. Sightseeing: dolphin & whale watching, excursions to villages & Garajonay National Park.
