HIRE CAR OR NOT? More about PAUL DO MAR:
HIRE CAR OR NOT? We recommend a hire car and to collect when you arrive at the airport. But, some of our clients do not want a hire-car for the whole holiday or to drive. One solution is we can pick 3 people up at the airport and return clients to the airport for 30 euros each journey. Also, we can offer lifts to some of the attractions including white sand beaches at Calheta and other places such as the start of walks for a reasonable fee per kilometre. MORE ABOUT PAUL DO MAR: The village has a small supermarket, shops, a Catholic Church, a bank with a cash machine, medical centre, bars/cafes and restaurants. Popular activities in and around the village are: mountain walks. fishing, swimming, snorkelling and surfing. 'Paul' is quite flat for Madeira, which is generally hilly and mountainous so it’s easy to walk around, roller-skate and cycle especially along the seafront. There are many ‘festas’ (festivals) and the village is international when emigrants return with family & friends!
REVIEW: 'Great holiday at Paul do Mar!':
'We really enjoyed our holiday at 'Sunny House' - there was nothing missing to feel comfortable! All the equipment was almost new and well-kept. Our favorite place was the terrace upstairs, most suitable for having a meal or for just feeling fine. From there, you have a great view over the sea, you can watch the waves and the sunset with a glass of portuguese wine in your hand and all the banana plants around you. There is also a grill for barbecuing, e.g. for your own selfmade 'Espetada'. Paul and Iva, offer great services: Towels and sheets are changed every week and even the charcoal is provided, just to mention a few.
We recommend the cafe next to the small supermarket where you can buy very delicious cakes for the coffee break.In the evening, if there is suddenly a strange noise, don't worry about it, but feel lucky: most probably it was the call of a bird called Cory's Shearwater.If you love nature, this is the right place for your holiday!
